As I sit down to write this, it is one of the first beautiful weather days we've had in about a week and the air traffic feed on
LiveATC.com has been exceptionally active. I almost forget for a moment that this isn't a normal day.
It goes without saying that the past several weeks have been bizarre, troubling, and scary for many. I know I am not alone in feeling overwhelmed in digesting information related to COVID-19 as it changes on an hourly basis.
Since many of you are trying to balance working from home, homeschooling children, and waiting in line at the grocery store, I'll attempt to keep this brief.
- By now you have hopefully seen the press release from Go Wheels Up! Texas and AOPA regarding the postponement of the May airshow. The full press release is below. While a new date has not been chosen, we continue to work closely with both organizations and are hopeful that the show will indeed go on at some point in the not-too-distant future.
- The airport is considered critical infrastructure and we plan to stay open for the foreseeable future. Please note that the City has prohibited gatherings of 10 or more people.
- For now, each commercial operator on the airfield will make their own decision regarding their hours of operation and procedures. As of today, the Commemorative Air Force is closed to the public through April 4. Berry Aviation's FBO has reduced operating hours to 7:00am to 9:00pm (previously 6:00am to 10:00pm) but are still available for after-hours calls.
- While we (airport management) are here during the week as usual, we have closed our office to the general public. As always, you can reach us via phone or email.
- The air traffic control tower will continue to operate from 7:00am to 7:00pm daily.
If anything changes, we will attempt to update you as quickly as possible via our newsletter and on social media. In the meantime, we ask that you continue to monitor the City's

website. Additionally, please practice social distancing whenever possible.

AOPA ANNOUNCEMENT ON THE GO WHEELS UP! TEXAS AND AOPA FLY-IN

Given the rapidly evolving situation around the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) recommendation to avoid large gatherings, and out of an abundance of caution for our members, attendees, vendors, and staff, Go Wheels Up! Texas and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) have decided to indefinitely postpone Go Wheels Up! Texas and the AOPA Fly-In scheduled for May 29 and 30 in San Marcos, Texas.
Go Wheels Up! Texas and AOPA will be working together to consider an alternate date to hold the co-located event either later in 2020 or in 2021.
Unfortunately, with the growing concern over a widespread outbreak, AOPA and Go Wheels Up! Texas believe we all must do our part to contain the virus by limiting travel and interactions to reduce everyone's risk of exposure and potential strain on the healthcare system.
The AOPA fly-ins in Casper, Wyoming, and Rochester, New York, planned for June 19-20 and September 11-12, respectively, will occur as scheduled. However, we encourage pilots to monitor AOPA media channels for updates. We appreciate your continued support as we all navigate these uncertain times together.
