More than 15,000 residents, leaders, and stakeholders weighed in and helped to create a community-supported vision for the future of growth in Utah County over the next fifty years. We're excited to officially release the Utah Valley Vision for 2050!
|
|
The Valley Vision is more than a plan; it includes solid economic, education, land use, and transportation goals, as well as community-supported strategies to make those goals a reality. It focuses on the most important issues Utah County will face as it adds one million people to its population by 2065. Issues like housing, transportation, air quality, education, agriculture, water, and more.
Thank you to everyone who came to our Valley Visioning Launch! We heard from several esteemed speakers, including Governor Gary Herbert and several other local officials as they voiced their support for the vision.

Thank you to everyone who came to our webinar on the future of teacher compensation and the impact of COVID-19 on the future of education in Utah.
Last year we worked with state, education, business, and community leaders to create "A Vision for Teacher Excellence." Together we looked at teacher compensation and a host of other steps we can take to overcome the teacher shortage and give Utah students the best possible education. At the webinar our education staff was joined by Derek Miller, President & CEO of the Salt Lake Chamber, and Dr. Sydnee Dickson, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, to talk about how our vision stacks up against 2020.
Turns out, the vision has never been more important than it is today. Check out the webinar below to learn more and keep an eye out, as we hope to do many more webinars in the future!

Underlying the entire article is the notion that low-density suburbs provide protection from the COVID-19 pandemic, at least as compared to the more urban and denser parts of this region. The irony is that based on empirical evidence density has no effect on the spread of the infection and actually reduces the rate of mortality.

In normal (non-pandemic) times, Utah's public education system performs quite well, despite our lowest-in-the-country spending per pupil. But if Utah aspires to be a top-five education state, can we do so at current per-pupil spending levels? At what spending level can we achieve top-in-the-country public education performance?

|
The Utah Valley Chamber, Envision Utah, and local officials came together through workshops, surveys and more community engagement, to release the Utah Valley Vision, a collective effort with residents and officials to plan for the growth expected in Utah County by 2050.

Like all of you, we’re worried about keeping ourselves and our families healthy, and we’re concerned about both the short- and long-term impacts of the current pandemic. But thanks to your generous support, we’re also able to remain focused on other critical long-term issues like air quality, water, land use & transportation, education, disaster resilience, and more. Thank you for your support!
