Good reminders to put a freeze on holiday fires
Keep candles away from anything that burns, use battery-operated ones
Don't let your holidays be ruined by a fire.

More than half of the home decoration fires in December are started by candles, with the top three days for home candle fires being Christmas Day, New Year's Eve & New Year's Day. Be sure to keep candles at least 12 inches away from anything that burns.

Also be sure to water your Christmas tree every day and check your lights before you put them up. Also do not leave lights on unattended.

Novi gets gold certification for being green
Third gold in a row for Novi in Michigan Green Communities Challenge
It is only fitting that in the City of Novi's "Golden" year it would be awarded "Gold" in the Michigan Green Communities Challenge.

Only 10 communities in Michigan received this top honor, and this is our third "Gold" in a row. The honor was given to Novi as a result of its work with the new Department of Public Works facility that had minimal impact to the site and provided staff with a state-of-the-art working environment.
