LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT |
Preparing for Spring!
But before we go let's recap on what a GREAT winter we have had. The Village in cooperation with the Business Improvement District sponsored their first 'Ice Festival'! What a successful event. The weather was sunny and the colder weather aided in keeping 30 ice sculptures alive for an entire weekend. The crowds were over the top who enjoyed live ice cravings, carriage rides and music.
Our Chamber Partner the Port Jefferson Rotary Club with their Winter Golf Classic was huge! They invited people to walk the streets and play putt-putt golf. Our restaurant community generously opened their doors to help support this fun-filled event. Another huge success that raise money for Rotary's charitable causes!
Moving along, our Chamber had their 'Hot Toddy Hop' partnering with our Pro-Port Restaurant Group, there were 13 venues that created their own signature toddy! Over 200 tickets were sold and the foot traffic added a sense of energy to our Village. This crawl sets the stage for the Chamber's and Port-Pro's 'Luck of the Irish' breakfast crawl March 14th. Tickets on sale now! GO to the Chamber's website to get tickets via Eventbrite
www.portjeffchamber.com
The winter season allows your Chamber to re-group and prepare for the high trafficked period coming up! We have some new programs to introduce to our members to include an outdoor mural program and a spring art walk. In addition we are working with the Bridgeport Regional Business Council and making a stronger connection across the pond in establishing a 'Passport' program. This encourages visitors from both areas to capitalize on special offers each can give to visitors. The Port Jefferson/Bridgeport Ferry is the transportation piece that will discount walk-on ridership and support such this new initiative. It is ALSO through their generous sponsorship that the Chamber will be hosting a NEW event June 20th on their P.T. Barnum-Sounds on the Sound ferry cruise featuring Billy Joel's-Moving Out band! Look for further details!!
Let's not forget our 11th annual Health & Wellness Fest- 'See your way to better health' April 25th at the PJHS. The theme is 2020 vison and we have a lot of NEW surprises for the attenders! Our hospitals- St. Charles, Mather and Stony Brook Medicine are our constant supporters who help provide an important service in educating our community for healthier life styles! We THANK them so much.
Lastly, (for now :),
our annual Easter parade is on Easter Sunday, April 12th. Please come and walk with all the families and children and then join in a 4,000 egg Easter Hunt down at Harbor Park!
Thank you,
Mary Joy Pipe

Congratulations to our Chamber Partner Po'Boy Brewery for being voted by 'Bethpage of Best of Long Island' for the
Best Craft Beer Brewery! Located at 200 Wilson St., Unit E3, PJ Station stop in for the best h
and-crafted micro brews designed for taste, smoothness, and ARTISINAL quality. In addition congratulations AGAIN to Po'Boy with sponsoring their 'Blessing Bags' to Pax Christi consisting of personal essential items for their homeless members.
We welcome Prohibition's owner, Lisa Harris, and general manager, Tom Fazio, with their new restaurant that has 'Southern-tastes with a New York flair' to the village in the form of a new venture called Fork and Fiddle. Located at
138 Main St, Port Jefferson Village, owner Lisa Harris says "w
e have a Southern-regional take, drawing inspirations from foods from the Carolinas, Tennessee, Texas - and putting our own New York-style on it". The restaurant promotes live music and t
here are three ways to dine: southern grand tasting, family-style southern dinner or the traditional one item off an a la carte menu.
Prohibition Kitchen held a 'Roaring 20's' Party during the Hot Toddy Hop. Participants came out dressed in costume and had a lot of fun drinking champagne and eating tasty hors d'oeuvres!

WHAT HAS BEEN GOING ON!!!
|
|
We started out this winter a little slow and because of bad weather the Chamber had to cancel our Santa Parade! So mark your calendars for next year 2020 for Sunday November 29th at 2pm.
February 8th & 9th was the PJ's Villages First Ice Festival, sponsored by the BID-Business Improvement District. With over 20 ice-sculptures throughout the Village, live ice cravings, horse and carriage rides, music, ice characters and much more the event was extraordinarily well attended! Perfect cold sunny weather.
This pass February 21st the Chamber had a new crawl- 'Hot Toddy Hop' from 6-9pm. Sold out with over 200 participants. 13 restaurant venues showcased their own 'signature' hot toddy, from a 'Boozy' Spice Chai to an early gray tea with splashes of honey and bourbon. The cost was $20 with the net proceeds going to the Pro-Port Restaurant Group. March 14th come on out for the 'Luck of the Irish' breakfast crawl. All tasting will have an Irish theme and the cost is $30. Tickets may be acquired through Eventbrite and both are co-sponsored by the Pro-Port Restaurant Group!
The Chamber Holiday Party was a big success, 40 guests & members attended the PJ Village Center on December 17th. Thanks to our Chamber Partners; C'est Cheese, Port Jefferson Lobster House, Kilwins, and Torte Pie Company for supplying a savory and sweet fare! Special entertainment was provided by Magic Beyond Imagination, with master magician- Robert McEntee, who did sleight of hand magic at all the tables! 'Find the bear among the reindeers' game was played and NEW Chamber member-Impact Auto Bodywon by finding the bearthe quickest and went home with a nice bottle of wine!
The Chamber is working on a new initiative with the support of the Bridgeport, CT. community and creating a 'passport' program to welcome walk-on visitors into our community. The program will hopefully launch in early spring with special offers for tourist that come across on the ferry. If interested connect the Chamber asap.
The Brookhaven Chambers of Commence Coalition is sponsoring their small business improvement award for $1,200 and their $1,000 scholarship award. Both criteria's are attached. Both deadlines are March 23rd.
