Corona 2020: Isolation and Inspiration

First of all, thank you to all my friends and family members who have been reaching out and checking on me. I feel your love and I am grateful.

Second, I miss you! Since I'm not offering any classes right now I miss having my tribe of creatives here in the studio. I look forward to when I can greet you again -- maybe even give you a hug. Imagine that...a hug! You are my peeps and my heart overflows with love and appreciation for you. In the meantime, I'm reaching out to stay connected with you and share some of the art that I've been creating during this time.

Yes, we are definitely all  in this together.  Even the rugged individualists who resisted the idea can't deny it now. We always knew it was true, but perhaps never more than now, as we live through the epic story of Corona 2020.

With all this time for reflection, one of the things I've been thinking about is the astrology research I did back in January of this year to prepare for a New Year SoulCollage® gathering. Here is the gist of what I learned about 2020:

The last time Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto were conjunct in Capricorn was in 1894 BCE. It happens again in 2020. The disruption of our old world paradigm and the birthing of a new is at hand. 2020 is the beginning of not only a new decade, but a new astrological era.  As with any birthing process, the year will involve enduring labor pains in order to introduce a new life. The year 2020 is a threshold to cross, a pause between the way it has been and the way it will be, necessitating a confrontation with all the difficult challenges in need of a remedy within civilization.

So, here we are in the midst of the corona virus. A tiny molecule in a protein coat, too small to be seen by light microscopy, and able to multiply only within the living cells of a host: "a viral infection." Perhaps, like the astrologists predicted, we are facing a confrontation with all the difficult challenges in need of a remedy within civilization.

It kinda feels like the Mother Earth sent us all to our rooms to think about what we've done and how we want to live on this planet.

Like all of you, I am hunkered down and riding the waves of emotion -- sadness, fear, panic, and rage. My heart aches for those who are suffering. Yesterday I looked in the mirror and was shocked to see fear looking back at me. I wasn't consciously afraid in that moment, but it was there in my eyes looking back at me -- my pupils blacker, wider, vulnerable looking. Then, fifteen minutes later, working in my studio, I teared up with feelings of acceptance, relief and even gratitude for hours of uninterrupted time to work on my art.

It's a roller coaster ride and I am fastening my seat belt and holding on. My desire is  to let myself feel everything that's coming up, not to resist what it is to be human in the midst of this crisis. And, eventually, come to peace with the inevitability of my own death. Because I will die. Maybe not from the Corona virus, but I will die. Resistance to that reality only creates more suffering.

Clarissa Pinkola Estes says, "We were made for these times." I think she is right. I hope she is right. If this is a test of humanity, I want to pass. I want to Wake Up, Grow Up, and Show Up for myself and others.  Let this virus bring out the best in me.

Isn't amazing how our spiritual leaders are stepping up to share hopeful messages and holistic perspectives? Everyday I see or hear something promising. Here are some things that are keeping me out of gloom and doom (click on link)
