Annual Convention Moves Online
Saturday, Oct. 23 from 9 a.m.–3 p.m.

After much prayer, research, thought, and discussion, your Convention Planning Team has made the difficult decision to move our Annual Convention to an online format this year due to COVID-19 Delta variant surges. Given the rigors of the past year and a half and the fatigue many in our community are experiencing with online events, we are condensing the schedule to one day, Saturday, October 23, focusing on the essentials. Read more.
Opportunity Announcement
An EfM (Education for Ministry) group will be having TWO online groups starting next week, one on Monday evenings from 7-9 and one on Thursday evenings from 7-9. There are openings in either group for any lay person who would like to join, from any year of the 3 year program.
Any questions regarding EfM should be directed to Karen Otte at karen.otte@me.com . Information about EfM can be found here: https://efm.sewanee.edu/

CHURCH BY THE POND
By Nancy Jacobs, Lay Coordinator
September 11, 2021

On another beautiful September 11 our focus at Church By The Pond was on remembering this day twenty years ago.

Rev. Taylor Albright led our congregation in prayer and provided a timely reflection on Mark's Gospel. Jesus taught his disciples who he was by revealing that he would be rejected and killed before the resurrection. He urged his followers to be willing to give their lives for others. On September 11, 2001 that sacrifice for the good of others was clearly demonstrated.

Prayers of the people included those who sacrificed and those left behind, for the safety and health of our country, and for Ray, a recently deceased member of our community.

Holy Communion was celebrated and shared with twenty present in Bushnell Park today.

As always we ended our service with The Prayer for Peace attributed to St. Francis.

Trinity Episcopal Church, Tariffville provided lunches for our 45 guests following the service.
The Church by the Pond block will be returning next week.

Christ Church Cathedral serves the entire Episcopal Church in Connecticut community for the good of the whole, and is the seat of the bishops. It is "our cathedral." Our Cathedral hosts four congregations in one worshiping community. It's not a parish, as its role is unique in the diocese (see 2015 task force report & resolution). In this its centennial year, Cathedral leaders and Centennial Committee members wish to remind all Episcopalians in CT that by virtue of their membership in a parish, they are members of our Cathedral. All are welcome at any time, and in particular, invited to these events .
