Greetings everyone!
This has been a challenging year for all of us. Early in March, we decided to provide virtual counseling to our clients via telehealth. Within a week, we had purchased laptop computers for all our counseling staff and began the process of offering this telehealth counseling. What we thought would be a few weeks has turned into many months.
For many people, the uncertainty of what we are all experiencing is resulting in increased anxiety and depression. Substance abuse has increased as some turn to alcohol and drugs to cope with their fears. Many are experiencing financial struggles; some have lost their job due to COVID.
With challenges also come opportunities. The use of telehealth has allowed us more accessibility to our current and new clients. We are working with several older individuals that no longer drive, yet need counseling services to work through their depression and anxiety. College students, parents, and full time employees can receive this counseling right where they are. We’ve been blessed to offer telehealth services as our clients navigate these trying times.
We are working with individuals from all walks of life. Health care workers who are experiencing increased stress and struggles from COVID, pastors who are feeling higher levels of anxiety due to the unique challenges of COVID, parents who are balancing working from home and children at home, individuals who have lost their job and are struggling with financial strain and uncertainty. This is in addition to all the typical issues people seek out counseling for.
We have recently added a new therapist who is already at full capacity with new clients. We hired another therapist who will be joining our team this coming January. 2020 has been a year of struggle and growth and we’ve had many new people seek us out for counseling.
The need is great for mental health counseling, now more than ever. Please consider making a financial donation to support the work of the Samaritan Counseling Center.
The Samaritan Center is a non-profit mental health clinic. We are state certified and nationally accredited. We are unique in working with client’s faith traditions when appropriate and integrating the mind/body/spiritual needs of the people we serve.
Thank you for your support!
