A Note from the Pastor
This Sunday we celebrate the beginning of Holy Week with our Palm Sunday service. This will be followed with special offerings on Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday. This is often considered to be the most important week of the Christian year. We hope that you will find a time to worship, nurture, and serve - either individually or collectively. May the peace of Christ be with you!
Pastor David

March 23, 2021
What has the Session been up to lately? In February & March, we issued commendations to Jan Warner, Nina Rupp, Lisa Carter, Brian Quilici, Jay McCreary, Julie Houpt, Jeanne Stone, and Leigh Schaefers for their work in preparing and delivering the Lenten Kits; Nancy Jo Freeman for her work as chair of the Children’s Christian Education Committee; Pastor Lin and her family for delivering cakes to the Taiwanese members at the end of the Lunar New Year celebration; and to Cliff Way for his long service as President of the FPC-R corporation (the entity empowered to execute legal documents for the church). The new President of the corporation is Harry Perkins.
A Session sub-committee has been established to hammer out the myriad details to be addressed for a return to in-person worship. In-person worship doesn’t mean we’ll be back to pre-pandemic practices immediately—our gatherings will be different for a while (think reduced attendance limits, masks, distanced seating, etc.) Services will continue to be available online as well. This is a time of transition, so we ask for your patience as the sub-committee and the COVID Task Force proceed with their work.
Long-time member Wanda Hamilton’s estate has been settled and includes a donation for FPC to be distributed after some of the Hamilton family’s property has been sold. More to come on this.
Are you interested in stimulating topics, discussions, and speakers for adults? We’re looking to re-establish an Adult CE committee. If you’d like to be part of it, please let Pastor David or Pastor Rosy know.
You’ll recall that 2020 ended with a sizeable budget surplus of slightly over $100,000. Click here to see how the Session voted to allocate the funds. (Approximately $3,000 is unallocated for now.)
If you’d like more information about these allocations, ask a Session member!
Margaret Rogers, Clerk of Session

FAIR TRADE CHOCOLATE
With Easter right around the corner, it's a great time to consider buying Fair Trade chocolate!
A reminder from the Earth Care Committee:
The chocolate industry supply chain exploits children, farmers, workers, and the earth. In order to make a change, it has to start with us, the consumers, changing our buying habits. Please consider buying products from Fair Trade Farmers because they do not depend on child labor, and they pay their workers a fair wage Click here to find Fair Trade Easter Chocolate. Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Aldi, Kroger, and Starbucks have a limited variety of Fair Trade Chocolate, as well as Kind and Kirkland Signature (Cosco) brands. Be sure to look for the fair trade symbol!
