Two weeks done and we have two more weeks added back on. Challenging, to say the least.
First, and foremost, thank you for your support. In working with the teachers, I hear that they are so grateful for the support you are giving them and grateful for the effort you are making to continue your child's learning. We appreciate all of the feedback you are giving us and are using that feedback to improve lessons and mode of delivery to the parent and student. As a school, we are taking steps to use Google Classroom, which would provide consistency across the grade levels. Our hope is that the use of this platform will minimize the number of e-mails sent to parents, increase ownership for learning by the student, and create a more meaningful connection between student and teacher.
A few of you have made inquiries about tuition payments. Thank you for your continued patience as we await an official response from the Superintendent. What I can tell you is this: Despite the closure of the school building itself, SMA, like everyone else, continues to pay operational costs.
In addition to the teachers who are fully engaged in continuing the learning process, the administrative and maintenance staff are hard at work as well. The custodial team has been fully engaged in the deep cleaning and sanitizing of the building. The advancement director has been busy writing grant proposals and reaching out to our donors. Our admissions director has been providing web site support to the teachers and communication to constituents along with her other duties of enrollment and marketing. The business staff is keeping busy with all of the financial responsibilities including payroll and paying the regular utility bills and operational expenses and responding to parent inquiries. Really, we're all in constant communication answering questions for one another and supporting one another as we develop a new rhythm of teaching and running the school.
We're in unchartered waters and right now we're really counting on everyone to support the mission of Catholic education. Hopefully, sooner rather than later, this COVID-19 will come to an end, and we're all going to want to come back and pick up where we left off. Your tuition payments are crucial for finishing this year and ensuring that we will be up and running for next year.
As the strong school community that we are, let's continue to remember each other in prayer and to take care of one other, especially those most in need.
Enjoy a restful weekend.
God bless you and your families.
