Two weeks done and we have two more weeks added back on. Challenging, to say the least.

First, and foremost, thank you for your support. In working with the teachers, I hear that they are so grateful for the support you are giving them and grateful for the effort you are making to continue your child's learning. We appreciate all of the feedback you are giving us and are using that feedback to improve lessons and mode of delivery to the parent and student. As a school, we are taking steps to use Google Classroom, which would provide consistency across the grade levels. Our hope is that the use of this platform will minimize the number of e-mails sent to parents, increase ownership for learning by the student, and create a more meaningful connection between student and teacher.

A few of you have made inquiries about tuition payments. Thank you for your continued patience as we await an official response from the Superintendent. What I can tell you is this: Despite the closure of the school building itself, SMA, like everyone else, continues to pay operational costs.

In addition to the teachers who are fully engaged in continuing the learning process, the administrative and maintenance staff are hard at work as well. The custodial team has been fully engaged in the deep cleaning and sanitizing of the building. The advancement director has been busy writing grant proposals and reaching out to our donors. Our admissions director has been providing web site support to the teachers and communication to constituents along with her other duties of enrollment and marketing. The business staff is keeping busy with all of the financial responsibilities including payroll and paying the regular utility bills and operational expenses and responding to parent inquiries. Really, we're all in constant communication answering questions for one another and supporting one another as we develop a new rhythm of teaching and running the school.

We're in unchartered waters and right now we're really counting on everyone to support the mission of Catholic education. Hopefully, sooner rather than later, this COVID-19 will come to an end, and we're all going to want to come back and pick up where we left off. Your tuition payments are crucial for finishing this year and ensuring that we will be up and running for next year.

As the strong school community that we are, let's continue to remember each other in prayer and to take care of one other, especially those most in need.

Enjoy a restful weekend.

God bless you and your families.

Ms. Ann E. Dougal
Principal

 Registration

Many  people have inquired as to whether our deadline for returning next year's registration paperwork will be extended. Please know that we will extend the deadline without additional fees. You always have the option of mailing it directly to the school. The post office will be holding our mail and it will be picked up once a week. We also want people to know that we will continue to accept new applications. These can be accessed remotely and will be processed as quickly as possible.

Building Update

School Building Update

The St. Michael's Academy school building will remain closed.  The sanitizing process continues and it is important that no one enters the building to preserve that process.

We will continue to provide you with updates as they become available.

Hang in there and stay healthy!

From (The Classroom of) Mrs. Senecal - Grade 5

Grade 5 Researching Their Heritage

The fifth grade students have been working on finding information about their grandparent's past and what life was like for them growing up. They have also been gathering information about the various countries that make up who they are. Student were given the task of interviewing a grandparent and digging deeper into their past. In addition, students then gathered some facts about the climate, government, language, geography, religion and population where their grandparents came from.

Although the Fifth Grade Grandparent event has been postponed, the students have still been working very hard to complete their final project. I have been impressed with the finished projects that have been sent my way. We will persevere and rise to any situation thrown our way!

Awesome work fifth grade!!

Remote Learning

  Classroom Assignments

All students should be receiving classroom assignments.  Please know that we are working hard to try and cut down on the number of emails that you are receiving.

If you are NOT receiving work for your child, it is CRUCIAL that you email their teacher immediately. It may be that the email we have on file for you is outdated and emails are being returned.

Need an email?  Please go to the the SMA website and consult the Faculty and Staff listing in the "About" drop down menu.

Food For Thought

"We shall steer safely through every storm, so long as our heart is right, our intention fervent, our courage steadfast, and our trust fixed on God."

Prayer Corner

St. Michael the Arch angel, pray for us!

We pray for our brothers and sisters across our nation and across the world. May God give everyone strength during this especially stressful time.

We pray in a special way for:

Margaret Tabb

And we pray for all of our recently departed and for those lives that have been taken by the Covid-19 virus across the world.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
