Joey’s Food Locker in Need of Donations
As more and more people are relying on food banks due to the impact of COVID, we have experienced an increase in the number of families needing groceries through Joey's Food Locker. Consider picking up a few extra items when you go grocery shopping his week to help restock the shelves of Joey's Food Locker. Canned veggies, tuna fish, cereal, and any additional canned items are at the top of the list.
Donations can be dropped off Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 2-5 p.m., at the food locker, located near the Natomas High School tennis courts at 3301 Fong Ranch Road.
Thank you in advance for your kindness and generosity.

Inderkum student Maribela Cruz partners with the Natomas community to create lasting impacts
When the pandemic hit last year, Inderkum High School’s Maribela Cruz knew that she wanted to do something to help families facing tough conditions due to COVID. So, she used her leadership skills to organize a successful campaign for awareness and support for children of farmworkers. “Through reaching out to members of our community, she was able to raise over $1,500 worth of school supplies for the children of Walnut Grove Elementary,” said her big brother Mateo, who undoubtedly is extremely proud of the work his sister has done at such a young age. “She is kind, passionate, and always stands up for what is right. She shows her leadership skills through different events that she has put together herself in order to help others in need.”

Generous Contributions Helps to Reach Fundraising Goal for Homeless Families
Before we left for winter break, in partnership with the Natomas Schools Foundation, we reached out to the Natomas community to help us raise $30,000 to directly support some of our families/neighbors that were in dire need of shelter, food, and other basic necessities. Thanks to the generosity of parents, staff, community members, and partners, we not only met our goal but surpassed it with a total of just over $32,000. Click here to read this great news on behalf of the Natomas Schools Foundation and Natomas Unified School District.
