DEAR "HAPPENINGS" READERS
It’s been 4 months since we switched from alerting you to actual “Happenings” to virtual “Happenings”, peppered with some music videos, interesting virtual connections,  commentary and reflections on these strange times. We, at Project Sunapee acknowledge with gratitude your comments and encouragement, as well as the sharing of articles & photos.  We’re especially pleased the “opens” indicating readership, has doubled as we weather this tempest together in the relative safety of Sunapee’s mountain and lakes.

Ever so happy to say … “today we have some REAL Happenings to share!"

SPORTS
… so let’s talk Baseball. The Red Sox first game of 2020 at Fenway is Friday! Since the stands cannot be full of cheering fans… thought we’d offer the ambiance of the Big Green Monster, and the sounds of “Sweet Caroline” for a smile and a cheer.  GO SOX!

There’s also other live sports action
closer to home.
CUE THE MUSIC
Tonight: Gather on the Sunapee Green to hear the jazz beats of “The Big Little Band”
6:30 ~ 8:30 at the Ben Mere Bandstand
This band formed from a weekly jazz jam held at the Flat Iron Cafe in Bellows Falls, VT where, for the past two and a half years, jazz
musicians from NH & VT came together to play jazz standards and
work on their chops. As a result, a core of 8 musicians, now called
The Little Big Band, perform at area venues playing the music of
Ellington, Porter, Parker, Miles Davis and others. The musicians
include Fred Tipton and Nick Scalera, on multiple saxes; Frank
Sansone on saxes and harmonica; Chuck Ober on trombone;
Marsha Stern on flute; Maryann Mcardle on keyboard; Ashok on
bass; and Dan Borden on drums.
And some virtual music as well: The Mama Mia cover w guitar & banjo.
Gorgeous a cappella quartet singing a beautiful hymn in the perfect acoustics of church stairwell.
A cappella music is incredible all on its own, but it’s even better when the acoustics are just right! As we’ve seen, the difference between a group singing outdoors and performing in a cathedral is like night and day.

Since the musical quartet Kings Return didn’t have a cathedral to sing in, they went for the next best thing: an empty stairwell! The friends, who first teamed up in 2016, recently headed into the narrow space to perform a breathtaking cover of the hymn “Ubi Caritas.” As their voices formed perfect harmonies and echoed from the walls, they created a sound that we would usually expect from a full choir. Listen here.
