LWV OPRF Annual Meeting

On Thursday, June 2, at 6:00pm, LWV OPRF will hold its 97th Annual Meeting. As per our Bylaws, here is the meeting packet, which includes the 2022-23 budget, program, slate, and Hazel Hanson award winner.  Read he proposed Bylaws changes here. The packet and the proposed Bylaws changes are also posted on our website. This will be a virtual meeting. We need a quorum of members to conduct business, so please register for the Annual Meeting here.  In addition to our business meeting, we will have Laura Davis, LWV IL Environmental Specialist, LWV Cook County Director, and LWV Palatine member, speaking to us about the Cook County Forest Preserve Referendum that will be on the November ballot. We hope all members will review the packet and Bylaws before the meeting to be prepared to vote on the business items of our meeting. 

Brave New Films

Tonight, at 5:30pm, there will be a screening and panel discussion of the film, "Suppressed and Sabotaged: The Fight to Vote." Panelists will include Tangi Bush, David Garcia, and Wanda Mosley. Register for the screening here.

History Talk

The American Association of University Women will be having a virtual presentation of their early Illinois history on Thursday, May 26, at 7:30pm. Ruth Holst will be presenting on AAUW history; where they have been and where they are going. Register for the meeting here.

Illinois Undercounted

Following a review of 2020 U.S. Census Data, the U.S. Census Bureau announced today that Illinois was undercounted by nearly 2%. Turns out Illinois' population isn't shrinking after all. US census says it undercounted.  This means that Illinois’ population grew by nearly 250,000 people and is now above 13 million people for the first time in Illinois history. Early Voting

Early Gubernatorial Primary Election voting will start on June 13 at the Oak Park Village Hall, 123 Madison, from 9:00am-5:00pm, Monday-Saturday. Sunday hours for June 19 and 26 will be 10:00am-4:00pm. Early voting will continue till June 27. You can also do grace-period voter registration during early voting hours but two pieces of valid identification is required to register.
