Harrison Rosenthal
’s paper “Viewpoint Conditioning: Social Media Use, Political Self-Efficacy, and First Amendment Perceptions” has been accepted for presentation to the Open Division of the 2020 AEJMC Southeast Colloquium, a March 2020 conference at the University of Memphis. Rosenthal also was made graduate student liaison to the AEMJC Law and Policy Division.

BEA poster session opportunity
|
The Broadcast Education Association invites graduate students to send submissions for a unique digital poster session at the BEA2020 Annual Convention, April 18-21. Ideal submissions include theses and dissertations near completion or projects completed for advanced graduate coursework after the fall BEA submission deadlines. Deadline is Feb. 21.

Student scholarships available through Wichita-based Gridiron
|
Students are encouraged to apply for more than $11,000 in scholarships raised through Gridiron, a Wichita stage show starring members of the local media. Gridiron is put on by the Kansas Pro Chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists.

AAF-KC Foundation Scholarship
|
Applications are open for the 2020-2021 AAF-KC Foundation Scholarship. Winners will receive financial assistance of $1,500 a year; a mentor who will be a working professional in the field the student is interested in pursuing; free membership in AAF-KC and AAF National; and free admission to every AAF-KC event excluding the American Advertising Awards. Deadline to apply is Feb. 28.

Get ready for the J-School Career Fair
|
Students, learn about internship and full-time job opportunities by connecting with more than two dozen organizations at the spring J-School Career Fair on Thursday, March 5, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Kansas Room on the sixth level of the Kansas Union. Students attending the career fair also can get a free professional portrait taken on site.
Also, the Journalism Career and Outreach Office will provide tips on preparing for the career fair and getting the most from the experience at 10 a.m., Feb. 26, in the Clarkson Gallery.
