The Tiger's Roar!
Tildenville Elementary School Community Brief
Friday, April 29, 2022
Tildenville Community Member,

Next week we have two major school events underway: 1) spring testing resumes Monday starting with the FSA Reading exam for both 4th and 5th grades; and 2) Teacher Appreciation Week '22. Our spring time field trips also continue as our 2nd grade Tigers visit Legoland on Friday. For those of our Tigers who will be testing, please remember to get a good night's rest the evening before a test and to eat a healthy breakfast the morning of a test. These two actions alone will give every student an edge helping them to earn the scores they are capable of and deserve.

Our teachers began the 2021-2022 school year back on Monday, August 2, 2021 during their annual pre-planning week. Our amazing PTA has organized a couple of ways that our Tildenville families can recognize our educators (please see below). Your support would be deeply appreciated. It means a great deal to the teachers when they hear from parents; especially as the school year nears its close. If this applies to your household, anything you might contribute would be wonderful.

I hope you enjoy this latest edition of The Tiger's Roar! Have a nice weekend.

Device Collection will be in May!
During the month of May we will start to collect all student devices and chargers. Please encourage students to look for lost/missing chargers now. They will be charged for them on these dates if they do not have them.

Devices will be inspected carefully for any damage. Devices that are damaged will be processed to go to the Repair Depot to be repaired. A notification letter will go home with your child if this happens. Once the Repair Depot confirms there is damage and sends the school the list of charges we will send a device fine letter home with parents and how to pay for the fine.

Please remember that at the beginning of the year, all parents and students signed the device responsibility form. Students are responsible for the care of these devices. PTA News
Upcoming events:
May 2-6 - Teacher Appreciation Week
May 17- General Membership Meeting and Officer Elections, 7:00pm on Microsoft Teams
Teacher Appreciation Week is a time for PARENTS to show their appreciation to our teachers and staff, for all their hard work and dedication to our students. This year, PTA has organized a couple ways for parents to show their gratitude:

1. PTA has assigned each grade level a day to bring breakfast to the school for all teachers and staff. Parents from each grade are looking for help with this endeavor. If you can assist or contribute funds, please visit our PTA Facebook page and find the post for your child's grade level. Comment and connect with other parents. (And if you are not on Facebook, feel free to email us at TildenvillePTA@gmail.com and we will connect you.)

2. PTA has organized a "Fiesta" themed week of ways for parents and students to show appreciation. Read through these daily activities and start planning for how you can express your thanks to teachers and staff!
General Membership Meeting and Election of Officers

Tuesday, May 17th at 7:00PM will be our final PTA General Membership Meeting of the year. We will be electing officers to the PTA Board for next school year, discussing our final donations to the school and talking about activities to kick off the next school year. The meeting will be held via video call on Microsoft Teams. If you are interested in becoming an Officer on the PTA Board, please email our Nominating Committee at TildenvillePTA@gmail.com. Nomination Forms have been sent to all PTA members via email as well. All nominations must be received by Friday, May 13.

Muffins with Mom: Muffins with Mom was a huge hit this year! We had over 700 people attend this wonderful annual event. We hope everyone enjoyed the time spent having muffins and juice with your Tigers before school. Thank you to Tildenville Tiger Mom, Carolina Logan, REALTOR for your generous sponsorship.
Earth Day: Muffins with Mom fell on Earth Day this year. The PTA used flowers as centerpieces for our tables at the event and these flowers were planted in the school garden. The plants add color and nectar sources for pollinators such as bees and butterflies. Thank you to Marni and Jim Weisbecker for planting everything into the garden that afternoon.
Facilities Improvements: The PTA has earmarked a significant portion of the funds raised at Mega-Blast for facilities improvements at the school.  We have met with OCPS Facilities personnel and the school administration and scheduled vendors to come in and give estimates for the items the school has identified that they need. PTA will be making final decisions about the funds in the next few weeks. We will announce those decisions as soon as they are made.

Field Day: PTA provided a large inflatable obstacle course, field paint and ice pops to the PE Department for Field Day on Friday, April 22 at the school.

Earth Week: Part I
We celebrated Earth Day for a whole week!

One celebration was to wear an outfit made out of recycled materials!
Another way we celebrated Earth Day was to make posters and other art work about the Earth and with recycled materials.
Mrs. Lehrer's 5th grade class partnered up with Ms. Hunter's Kindergarten class to work on Earth Day posters.
Mrs. Gonzalez's 3rd grade class built and used solar ovens to use the sun's energy to cook marshmallows.
Mrs. Gonzalez's class played a game outside where students had to “fly” in “flocks” to migrate south & then back north successfully avoiding natural & man made obstacles amongst the many habitats along the way.
Like Mrs. Gonzalez's class above, Ms. Colon's 3rd grade class also engaged in the migration game.
TES Alumni Visit
We had one of our former Tildenville Tigers come to our Senior Celebration this year. Congratulations to Aaliyah Blanco, West Orange High School Class of 2022! Good luck in all your future endeavors! You are forever a Tildenville Tiger!
Recycling Contest
Congratulations to 2nd grade for winning the recycling contest! We received a lot of donations for every grade so great job recycling Tigers! If you have items to donate don't forget about the donation bin in the school parking lot. This bin is a school fundraiser and we do get credit for the amount of items that are placed in the bin!
Media Center
Thank you to everyone who has been donating books for Library Month!! The books are greatly appreciated! We are still in need of any graphic novels, Captain Underpants and Diary of a Wimpy Kid books for the library. If you would like to donate please send your book donations with your child to the media center.

Thank you again!

Tildenville Dual Language Program
"I feel that the dual language program benefits me by being able to practice another language. This also helps me better communicated with others from different places. The dual language program makes me a better student because I can help my friends if they need help with a different language. I feel ike I have a bigger vocabulary and ability to learning more things."
