Notice from St. Catherine of Siena Parish
Some of our churches will present a series of forums during these coming three months on "Criminal Justice Reform". Our commitment to parents, students and educators in the Red Clay and Vocational School districts includes a concern about the number of absent parents, especially fathers. A sizable percentage are in prison, often for lengths of time beyond what is beneficial to society and themselves.

All of us realize that the family is the most important factor in a child's success at school. The Church and the family are where a child's character is formed. We invite you and your congregation to attend these forums, to learn what citizens need to know to support positive reforms in laws that will restore parents, especially fathers, to their family role in their children's lives.

Upcoming Events

Growth and Vitality Workshop with Bishop Brown
The Vestry would like to make the congregation aware of an important upcoming event. On Saturday, February 8, Bishop Brown will be visiting us to present a Growth and Vitality Workshop. The purpose of the workshop is “to help parishes make the best decisions about their future growth by studying and discussing essential data.”
Basic facts include:
·      Studying the nature of growth and vitality
·      What are the essential vital signs that every parish should know about themselves?
·      What are the vital signs for the Episcopal Church overall?
·      What are the models of “being church”?
All are welcome and encouraged to attend. We want to show the Bishop that we are a vital congregation and have important ministries to share with each other and the community.
When: Saturday, February 8
Time: 10:00 am-2:30 pm (with 30 minutes for lunch)
Where: St. James’ Parish House
Lunch will be provided
Please register on the sign-up sheet posted on the notice board in the Parish House lobby, or RSVP at the Soup and Bread Luncheon, or contact the church office at (302) 994-1584 so we can plan accordingly for lunch.

Annual Visitation of the Bishop!
The annual visitation of Bishop Brown is Sunday, March 22, 2020. At that time, he will be the celebrant and preacher! Also, at that time he will Confirm, Receive, or bless Reaffirmations of faith. Simply put, Confirmation is for anyone not previously confirmed by a bishop, Reception is for anyone was confirmed in another Christian denomination who wishes to join the Episcopal Church, and Reaffirmation is for those who wish to reaffirm their baptismal vows before their community of faith. If you are interested in any of these possibilities please speak with Fr. Kim right away.
