Grande Reserve Elementary School Families,

As we mentioned last week, the district transitioned to an upgraded alert notification system. Please reference previous newsletters for current information. Please add [email protected] to your “trusted sender”/”do not block list” lists. In addition, if you have a new email address or phone number, now is a great time to contact your child’s school secretary to update the information. If you have multiple children in the district, please contact the secretary at your oldest child’s school. On Sunday, January 17, at 6 p.m., the district sent an email and phone message to all District 115 families and employees to test the new notification system. If you did not receive the phone message, you may dial 855-267-0402 to hear all the messages that were sent to you from the district in the last 30 days. Please send an email to [email protected] if your contact information is up-to-date with your child’s school, but you do not receive this phone and/or email communication from the district (please indicate your child’s school and full name in the email).

Thank you for your cooperation as we work to continually enhance our services to our families.

Sincerely,
Michele Breyne
GRES Principal
SEAKers
Grande Reserve has joined the SEAKers in completing weekly kindness challenges! SEAKers, which stands for Students Engaging in Acts of Kindness, was created by Mandy Kelly, a 6th grade teacher in California. The goal of the SEAKers is to “make the world a better place through small acts of kindness”. Each week students will be challenged with small acts such as holding the door open, doing an extra chore at home, or giving someone a genuine compliment. Each week we will shoutout the class with the most SEAKers!

Families are welcome to join in at home too! Check out the SEAKers website and facebook page below!
PE and Recess
Students will be outside for PE and recess whenever possible, as long as the wind chill temperature is 15 degrees above zero. As the snow begins to melt, you may want to consider sending your child(ren) with a pair of shoes that you don't mind getting muddy!
Staff & Teacher Feature
“Teaching during a pandemic is an extremely challenging task, especially as a new mom.  Mrs. Buerger came back from maternity leave in October and has done a great job getting to know her students, not only on an academic level but also a social level.  I’m sure it is hard to juggle all of these “new norms”, but she has done it with ease and a smile on her face.  We appreciate everything she is doing for our child and her constant communication home!”

"This is the second time one of our children has had Mrs. Munch for 1st grade and she is simply amazing. She goes above and beyond the scope of her classroom teacher role. She is compassionate about educating our children, she is empathetic to these sweet and innocent little kiddos and she is full of excellent ideas to make learning fun! This is a year full of challenges, and unfortunately we have had to quarantine at home. Mrs. Munch has checked in daily, sometimes multiple times, to make sure everything is going well and to see if we needed anything. We truly cannot thank her enough for all she has done and continues to do for our children!"
We are having our ANNUAL MAGAZINE RENEWAL DRIVE this week! Our primary goal is to help each student receive a magazine of their choice! When students are getting age appropriate, nonfiction reading material, they do better in school. Of course, we love it when friends and family order or renew subscriptions as well! New this year is also the option to purchase other items online and be shipped to home. Each item counts as a subscription.
The ordering process this year is all online! Please see the options below!
  1. Scan the QR Code and Follow the steps! (you can order magazines and text the link to family and friends)
  2. Go to: gaschoolstore.com and follow the steps. Our School ID is 479634. (you can order magazines and you can also register and then send emails to family and friends)

Staff & Teacher Feature
We would like to add a special section to our weekly newsletters but we need your help! Each week we would like to give a special "shoutout" to a GRES teacher. Students or parents can nominate a teacher to be included in our "Teacher Feature" section of the weekly newsletter by sharing a reason(s) why they make school a wonderful place to be! Your input can be shared by completing the digital submission form or you can print our paper copy and have your child turn it into the office at school. Thank you for your support, we are looking forward to sharing your responses!

You can either email it to: [email protected] or
