    He will quiet you by his love;

-Zephaniah 3:17-

Monday night, I returned home after a meeting and grabbed a spot on the couch near my son. He was watching Monday night football. The Raiders were playing and I, a lifelong Bronco fan, was anxious for them to lose.

It was a spectacular game. The Raiders’ scores were matched by the Ravens, to the very end of regulation. Tied game.

In overtime, the high-drama continued with a back-and-forth struggle. After a Ravens fumble, the Raiders had the ball in field goal range, the first team to score would win. Raiders coach, John Gruden, wasn’t going to take any chances, he called out the kicking team, time for a game-ending field goal. There was confusion and chaos- the kicker, Daniel Carlson, was missing resulting in a devastating delay-of-game penalty!

The Raiders had to run a play, and boy did they ever. Quarterback, Derek Carr dropped back as far as he could, threw off his back foot, and launched a high-arching rainbow throw into the waiting arms of #7, Zay Jones, who pranced into the end zone. The Las Vegas stadium exploded in pandemonium. The Raiders won, but not before they were shaken.

I sat on the couch, jaw dropped, tongue-tied, completely speechless. I was silenced by such an incredible game.

Read the book of Zephaniah and you will be shaken too. God’s judgment was crashing down on the people. The fair and just judge was making things right, fulfilling His promise of justice and righteousness. But in the middle of the confusion and chaos, the Savior is not missing! He is there with his people.

The Lord your God is in your midst,
    a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
    he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.
-Zephaniah 3:17-

Incredibly, the Lord reminds His people that he himself, “a mighty one,” came to save. But he doesn’t stop there, he is so great, so wonderful, so magnificent that he leaves his people silent - jaw dropped, tongue-tied, completely speechless. His love is so wonderful, we have nothing left to say.

Maybe today you feel like your burdens and sorrows and pains are so great you cannot go on. Perhaps the despair in your heart has blanketed your joy. You feel like the confusion and chaos of the world leaves you destined to lose. Remember, our Lord is not missing. He came to save, to rejoice over you with gladness, to quiet you with his love, and even to sing over you in joy.

The Lord, The Mighty One came for you, leaves his people silent - jaw dropped, tongue-tied, completely speechless.

Silence.

Join us Sunday as we continue our sermon series Expect the Unexpected and hear about God’s unexpected adoration for his people.

I can’t wait!
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

A place to give and a place to receive

The local community market is working to improve healthy food access in our community by rescuing food from local grocery stores, local farmers and redistributing it to any and all local families. In this way, they're reducing food waste while also making good food more accessible.

This outreach opportunity gives our church the chance to actively show the love of Jesus just up the road and in our community at large!

🍎What do our wonderful Market Assistant volunteers take care of?
Stocking the market and produce shelves, unloading and sorting grocery rescue donations, repackaging bulk food items, packing dry food boxes for community distribution, sorting produce boxes, composting food and recycling containers, sweeping, and sanitizing surfaces along with many other jobs within the shifts that can be of help.
