Recipe for a Contagious Faith!
The Crowds are brought to faith by Peter’s preaching, baptized, then devote themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and prayers. They are in awe of the wonders and signs done by the apostles, and share their possessions with all as any had need. They spend much time together at temple, and ate together with glad and generous hearts, praising God. And day by day God added to their number those being saved. Wow! Do we believe Jesus is our Lord and Messiah? What key ingredients for faith do you have or lack: teaching? Prayer? Awe? Gladness? Generosity?

HYMN REQUESTS ARE BACK!
This summer, we are returning to a UMCG summer tradition where we will sing one verse (or so) of a selection of favorite hymns as requested by our congregation. Scott, our Director of Music, reviews the requests and groups songs together by theme and style for congregational singing each week. Make your requests via the online form or by writing the hymn number and title on the back of the attendance card and place it in the offering plate.
PRACTICE: SERVING
NEW IDEA FOR MEAL MINISTRY
For many years caring volunteers have provided meals to those who are experiencing a challenging time. We’re updating this ministry and we think you’ll be excited about it, too!

Our pastors, Stephen Ministers and Friendly Visitors visit church family members during challenging times. When people are home from the hospital, or experiencing a loss for instance, a loaf of bread, a container of soup or another simple offering is a great comfort. In times of need it’s a way to say your church family cares! We’d like to stock the church freezer with breads that our members make when you have extra time to bake or have extra zucchini, etc. We are also hoping for containers of soups, stews, etc… .

HOW IT WORKS:
When it’s convenient to cook a little extra, fill a container (we can provide them if need be). Label it with your NAME, WHAT IT IS, and the DATE. Freeze it immediately and bring it to the church freezer. Sign it into the MEAL MINISTRY TO GO sheet on the freezer door when you bring something or take something out.

Maybe you’re someone who would like to take a meal but haven’t time to prepare. You’ll be able to stop by the church and find something to share with the one you know needs some TLC.

Questions? Or you can sign up to help today! Contact Jill Nettleton 630-217-9963 or Mary Gay McKinney 815-508-2055 to join in the fun.
PRACTICE: STUDY
SPIRITED WOMEN SUMMER PLANS
Spirited Women will meet at the North end of Wheeler Park from June 15 to August 31 from 9:15-11am. Bring your own chair and join us for some good conversation and fun. We won't be having a "class," just sharing about our flowers, favorite books/movies or anything at all! We will be just staying connected and enjoying the outdoors together.
On September 7th we will return to the church parlor and finish our book study from this year "Making the Road by Walking by Brian McClaren. We will decide on our fall book/study then. Join us irregardless if you've read the book or not. Contact Cheryl Johnson at cljba96@sbcglobal.net for questions.
We hope to see you at the park!

PRACTICE: PRAYER
MEETS WEEKLY - THURSDAYS FROM 1:30-2PM
When Thomas Keating, Basil Pennington and others visited the "East" and found Christians from the West trying to learn about meditation, they returned with a hope of sharing Contemplative Practice with persons who lived outside of monasteries. They developed a form of prayer now known as Centering Prayer. In this type of prayer one sits quietly in the presence of God for twenty or thirty minutes. Centering Prayer is now practiced by Protestants, Catholics and anyone seeking a time of quiet, "centering" the heart and mind in our Lord.

We have have recently started a weekly time of Centering Prayer from 1:30-2:00pm on Thursdays. We invite, welcome and encourage persons of all faiths to attend. For more information contact our church at 630-272-7120. Or just stop in and try. Whenever we have newcomers unfamiliar with Centering Prayer, our Pastor shares a word about it. Need more information? Contact Rev. Mary Gay McKinney at marygay@genevaumc.org.
