Principal's Message

Safety is a constant focus at Guardian Angels, especially over the past years of the pandemic. The necessity for strong safety covers all areas of the operation of the school- health, fire, carline/dismissal, active intruder, and much more. This week, I was contacted by a Cincinnati Police Officer who serves as the Neighborhood Liaison Officer for Mount Washington. He has received notice from concerned residents of the Mount Washington community who are informing him of vehicles driving too fast at both morning drop off and afternoon pick up. He will be increasing patrols in the Mount Washington area, especially in the streets close to Guardian Angels School. He has asked me to encourage all parents at GA to slow down and be extra attentive while driving while on campus and on the local streets.

In addition to this concern, it is imperative that all morning and afternoon carline procedures are followed to best keep our students safe during these busy times.

  • All parents dropping off students in the morning should use the car line system unless there is a special circumstance that necessitates walking the student to the entrance of the school. If there is a special circumstance, please escort your child all the way to the entrance to the school.
  • Students should not be dropped off until 7:30. Doors will not be open until this time.
  • When dropping off through carline, please stay in your car and have your child independently exit the vehicle. Staff members are there to assist!
  • Afternoon carline dismissal is very congested. It is imperative to make sure your child is accompanied at all times. All parents must park their cars and meet their child at the school entrance. Students are not allowed to walk through the parking unattended.
  • It is very important for parents to arrive to school by 2:40 at the latest.
  • Park on the left side of the parking lot. The right side is used for busses. If all spaces to the left are taken, you may park along the fence line of the right side. Please do not park in any other space as busses have a very difficult time maneuvering around cars parked on their side of the parking lot.

Please help keep all our angels safe by following our policies and procedures.

God bless,

Corey Stoops

For those of you who suffer from fall allergies, the time is approaching (if not already here) for you to start feeling symptoms. If you usually treat your allergies with medication, it may be wise to start taking it regularly. Doing so may help you avoid allergy symptoms that mimic Covid symptoms.

Picture Day

Fall Picture Day will be Monday, September 20th. A reminder that students may dress out of uniform but should wear school appropriate attire. A full list of out of uniform guidelines is available in the Student Handbook. Picture order forms were sent home last week and extra forms are available in the school office.

Low Income Forms

Low-income forms were sent home with students last week. Every family must return a form to the school, regardless of family income. These forms are needed for a required report and also help us receive funding for multiple purposes.

Thank you to all of the volunteers and participants of the 2021 Halo Hustle! Because of your efforts and participation, the Halo Hustle was a success and a great way to start the school year! You can view photos of the event on our Facebook page.

Fathers Team Meeting This Friday

Fathers of Guardian Angels students: Join the GA Fathers Team this Friday, September 17th, at 6:05am in Conference Room B. Each week during the school year we meet early on Friday for one hour to discuss a topic that is meaningful for dads.

This week we'll be discussing Favorite Bible Passages. Do you have a passage that you call on in a time of thankfulness? Or in a time of need? No preparation is required. Just show up and join in the conversation...or just observe. Come solo, or better yet, bring a friend!

Again, mark your calendars to join us this Friday in person or optionally join via Zoom. Contact us at [email protected] for the zoom information, or to get on the GA Fathers Team email distribution.

We ask parishioners attending to bring a side, salad, or a dessert to share. Please bring your dish to share in a throw away container. Please RSVP through the this link by September 26th. Be sure to all of the sign-up genius instructions carefully; this includes indicating how many people are in your party and what dish you plan to bring.

Christian Service Program - Faith in Action

The purpose of the Christian Service Program is to enhance the religion curriculum at Guardian Angels Church. It is the duty of all Christians to reach out in service to those around them. Christ asks us to be His hands and feet on earth, keeping His mission of reaching out to those in need alive. The students will complete their service within the following settings: at home, the parish community/school and the community at-large. This outreach may be completed individually, with a partner, or in a group.

This program will focus more on the meaning of the actual service opportunities rather than completing a prescribed amount of time. You will choose activities for each component—service to your family, service to your school/parish and service to the poor and vulnerable in our community. There is no minimum requirement of hours to complete. Grades 1-3 are required to complete at least 2 activities for each component; grades 4-8 at least 3 for each. You are certainly encouraged to complete more! See your Religion teacher, Mrs. Froehlich, or the parish website for a list of suggested activities and the log sheet.
