From Jamie Tuitele-Lewis
Fire Fuel Mitigation Program/Forest Health Coordinator
This is a notification by our partner, the Farm Service Agency, that the Emergency Conservation Program is now open and accepting applications for residents impacted by wildfires this year. This program is targeted at producers, primarily farmers and ranchers, that have had infrastructure destroyed or damaged by these wildfires. It is a cost-share program that provides a large proportion of the money needed for repairs or replacement. This excerpt from the release gives more detail:
“ECP helps with the cost to restore damaged farmland to pre-disaster conditions. Producers may receive up to 75% of the cost of approved restoration activity. Limited resource, socially disadvantaged and beginning farmers and ranchers may receive up to 90% cost-share assistance.”
Please contact the FSA here in Salinas; the contact information is listed below. Please note that you must email or call the Service Center to set up an appointment with the FSA. The deadline to apply is January 28th, 2021. Please share with anyone who may be interested in this assistance.
