Advent meditation for December 9, 2020
Make ready my heart, Lord, to receive You wholly in wonder and in praise, You-the Mystery-made-human – even as my mind wanders in search of some lesser truth the world might have to offer. Let my mind rest in You, our Sanctuary.

Make ready my heart, Lord, to see You more clearly and hold You more closely – when all
around me clouds of confusion swirl like dust obscuring my vision. Lift my eyes to You, the Sun in the heavens and over this earth.

Make ready my heart, Lord, to trust once again that You do, indeed, reside behind the face of fear and doubt of others or my own. Increase my faith in You, the Eternally Standing.

Make ready my heart, Lord, to feel Your All-Pervading breath in the cries of newborns and the last gasps of the dying returning to You. May I be present to You breathing me and all of creation.

Make ready my heart, Lord, that it be a womb to birth You in life.
