Canadian Decommissioning Capabilities and Experience Catalog

Following a competitive bid process, OCNI in partnership with the CNA and with co-funding by CanExport Associations (CxA) has retained the team of Bucephalus (Neil Alexander) and Strapolec (Marc Brouillette) to develop a comprehensive Canadian Decommissioning Capabilities and Experience Catalog.

This project is in response to OCNI’s International Business Development Strategy for the Canadian Nuclear Industry 2019-2021 that identified “Decommissioning and Waste Services” as a “a growing market that has both significant opportunities and competition” for Canadian suppliers.

The Canadian Decommissioning Capabilities and Experience Catalog will enable the Canadian suppliers to present a comprehensive Team Canada Decommissioning offer to offshore markets - building on the strategies developed in the Canadian Nuclear Alternative Alliance Models Study (2019). The Catalog will identify gaps or weakness in Canadian decommissioning capabilities that could be filled by Canadian suppliers with access to specialized offshore resources or through international partnerships. The Catalog should also be useful to Canadian Decommissioning Project Managers in selecting Canadian suppliers to undertake or participate in domestic decommissioning projects.

The Bucephalus / Strapolec team will undertake desktop research, supplier and facility visits (to the extent possible under current circumstances), and interviews to develop this comprehensive catalog of Canadian decommissioning experience and capabilities.

Please advise Sarina Harrison (sarina.harrison@ocni.ca) by August 12 if your firm has decommissioning-related capabilities and that you would like to be interviewed by the Bucephalus / Strapolec team for possible inclusion in the Canadian Decommissioning Capabilities and Experience Catalog.
