Winter Grower Meetings March 16-20

Join your Federated Agronomy team at a 2020 Winter Grower Meeting featuring Clint Gergen of CHS as the keynote speaker. Meetings are scheduled as follows:

Tues., March 17 - Rush City (Chuckers Bowl)

Conventional Corn and Pre-Emerge Considerations

If conventional corn is in this year’s crop plan, “start with an excellent pre-emerge herbicide with at least two active ingredients,” said Tim Stelter, Federated’s Osceola location manager. More than two active ingredients is even better.

“We don’t have an easy backup plan with conventional corn,” said Stelter, so it’s important to maximize the pre-emerge application. Federated recommends Acuron® , or Palace® plus atrazine for good grass and broadleaf control. But, nothing ... Read more.

Starter Fertilizer + USA500 = Strong Start for Corn

With 5% nitrogen (N) and 6% zinc (Z), USA500® universal starter additive is a great complement to starter fertilizer programs, according to Brad Hipsag, sales agronomist at Federated’s Ogilvie location.

Wheat Seed: Order Soon (with Seed Treatment)

Federated has a “pretty good wheat supply on order, but it is first-come, first served,” said Cody Lezer, Federated’s seed warehouse manager at Ogilvie. “Varieties we sell are Linkert and Bolles.”

These are “very good, exceptional varieties,” said Kevin Carlson, Federated’s agronomy sales manager, adding that seed treatment – which is “a very good idea” – is also available.
