2020 Ling & Petrova Microeconomic Impact Study Complete; EY Study Nearing Completion
The updated 2020 microeconomic impact study by Professors David Ling and Milena Petrova is available for viewing. The work is a result of a year-long effort by FEA and members of the real estate 1031 coalition to produce updated versions of the groundbreaking research that Professors Ling & Petrova conducted on like-kind exchanges in 2015. The EY Study is still in process, but nearing completion. The combined findings of both studies will be powerful tools to inform and validate our arguments in favor of preserving Section 1031, and represent money well spent by the FEA.

FEA and Real Estate Coalition Send Letters to Treasury Secretary, Congressional Tax Writers About Importance of Section 1031
|
On March 16, FEA joined 30 members of the Real Estate Coalition in sending letters to U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and to the chairmen, ranking members and chief counsels of Senate Finance Committee and House Ways & Means Committee, extolling the importance of Section 1031 exchanges to the U.S. economy.
The coalition represents national real estate, housing, environmental, farming, ranching, forestry, conservation, and financial services related organizations. The coalition letters hit on all the major talking points and highlight the various benefits of like-kind exchanges.
The GAC leadership has spent considerable time working with our coalition partners to achieve such enormous support by our coalition partners in co-signing and sending these letters. Our partners are fully engaged to work with us to preserve Section 1031 as the initiatives of this new Congress unfold.
