Artist In Residence Artwork Unveiled

I know everyone has been waiting with bated breath… so BEHOLD! Here are the pieces of artwork created by 8th grade students with artist in residence Sarah Fenerty. Sarah had students incorporate important lessons they’ve learned, advice they would give the younger students, defining memories, and hopes for the future in their pieces of artwork. Students were excited to share their experience participating in this journey, and even more excited for younger students to learn from it.

From the Technology Director

We have a new software resource available for our students this year. It’s called Discovery Education. Click the image to the right to navigate to the site.  Students can log into this resource using their Google accounts from the school. Just click the blue login top right corner and log in with Google. This is a self contained educational database students can use to search for videos, pictures, and articles on all kinds of educational subjects. Another advantage is that since it is not an open ended web browser, the content is safe for children without the risk of inappropriate items creeping in. This is a free resource for all students and staff to use. Check it out. You can access Discovery Education wherever you have a browser and Internet access.

Field Day

Field day is fast approaching! On Friday June 3, students will participate in field day! Please make sure your child has sunscreen, water, and comfortable clothing to run around in. There are some water activities, so a change of clothes is encouraged as well! Please take a look at the Field Day flyer that was sent home with your child's class color as well.

News from the Library

Good news! The Book Fair is back!

This is our first in-school book fair since 2019, so let's make it a great one! The book fair will be here from June 6th-June 10th.

Fliers will be sent home with students the week before, including instructions for setting up E-wallet.

The library is looking for parent volunteers to help out during the book fair. If you're interested in helping out, please email Erin Mawn emawn@northwoodschoolnh.org

News from Kindergarten

Our teaching time has come to a close. This week we learned all about baseball, how to hook a worm, kayaking, and being a paleontologist. We are so proud of the kids, they all did a great job! They created lasting memories with their classmates that will be treasured for a long time.

Talking to Students About Tragedy

Dear Families,

The news out of Texas this week was heartbreaking. Please try to take comfort in the strong community in our school and town, the positive relationships we have between the school and families, and the genuine sense of belonging that characterizes our school.

Please contact Ms. MacDonald, Ms. Billcliff, Mr. Alford, or me if you or your children are in need of support or resources.  Please click the image for a resource on talking to children of various ages about tragic events.

Take care,

Jocelyn
