NEW: NAIA Welcomes Four New Members

The COP approved the applications of four institutions for NAIA membership, effective July 1, 2022. All four schools received unanimous recommendations from the NAIA Membership Committee and unanimous approval by the COP.

New members include: Indiana University Purdue University Columbus (associate), Oakwood University in Alabama (active), North American University in Texas (associate), and Southern University at New Orleans (associate).

The COP also approved the change from associate to active membership for Arkansas Baptist College.
NEW: 2022 National Convention Summary

NEW: Contacting Athletes Within NCAA Portal

At this year's national convention, the National Eligibility Committee provided an interpretation to Article II, Section D in regards to student-athletes who are in the NCAA Transfer Portal. The interpretation determines that an NAIA coach may directly contact student-athletes in the NCAA portal concerning their intent to transfer. You can find the complete interpretation here.
NEW: Bob Lade Retiring in June

After eight years as the NAIA's director of officiating initiatives, Bob Lade is retiring at the end of June. When Bob began in this role, his goals were to improve relations in the officiating industry and to build the framework to register and manage the process of education and assignment of officials serving the NAIA. He successfully completed these goals and so much more. Join us in congratulating Bob on his retirement.
NEW: Final Speaker Series Presentation for 2021-22

Student-Athlete Transition Course
Sunday, April 24, 7 p.m. Central
The NAIA’s official online education partner, Prevention Strategies, will present a scaled-down version of their Student-Athlete Career Transition course addressing the challenges faced by student-athletes when their athletics career comes to a close. Lifestyle changes, health & wellness concerns, and career preparation will be discussed with Jeff Milroy, Director of the Center for Athlete Well-being at UNC-Greensboro, and Kristin Rusboldt, associate athletics director. All are welcome with a target audience of student-athletes and CCLs. The webinar will be recorded and uploaded to naia.org.

NEW: DEI Resources Available

As part of the NAIA's new strategic plan, supporting our members in their diversity, equity and inclusion efforts is a primary focus. To that end, the NAIA RISE committee has created new diversity, equity and inclusion resources that are now available online for our members. If you have incorporated DEI on your campus and would be willing to share your stories or resources, please email Paige Salveter.

NEW: 2022 Men's Volleyball National Championship

Grand View University defeated Benedictine-Arizona 3-1 to take home its second men's volleyball national championship title on April 15 in Des Moines, Iowa.

NEW: May 1 Reminders:
  • Decision processing begins for the upcoming academic year. All students seeing eligibility for the Fall 2022 term will begin receiving decisions at that time.
  • The 2021 approved legislation will go into effect for all fall 2022 determinations
  • All institution short list displays will switch to the 2022-23 academic year
 
NEW: Women’s Beach Volleyball
Women’s beach volleyball is now available for PlayNAIA registration. Since women’s beach volleyball is in year two of invitational status, student-athletes are now required to have an EC determination unless they meet the exception for EC determinations as noted in CFAR Policy III, Item 5.
 
NEW: PlayNAIA Webinar
The NAIA Eligibility Center is hosting a webinar for new members, new campus staff and those wanting a refresher on the EC on Thursday, May 5, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m. (CT). Attendees will learn about PlayNAIA processes and navigating the website including: student registration, how to navigate student eligibility, using the NAIA Registrar Portal, and more.
