Friends,
Over the last few days, I have found myself shaking my head in disbelief at the scale and potential impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over the coming weeks every one of us will need to take steps to mitigate the impact of the virus. I know you are ready to do your part because you are a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Because at Broadmoor United Methodist Church we take the health and well-being of our congregation, staff, and community very seriously, we are following a directive given this afternoon by Bi
shop Cynthia Harvey for United Methodist Churches across Louisiana to
suspend a
ll worship services and other activities on our campus for two weeks
. We tentatively plan to re-open the church campus on
Sunday, March 29
. Please monitor any changes to this plan via our
website
,
Facebook page
, and
Instagram
.
Jesus, when asked what the greatest commandment is, replied “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and you shall love your neighbor as yourself.” I encourage you to see the steps you take as an individual, and the steps we take together as a community of faith, to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 as an expression of your “love of neighbor.”
The coming days will be filled with many challenges and surprises for us all, but I know we can, and we will, come through it in such a way that others will see the love, hope, and peace of Jesus shining through us.
Below you will see the steps your church is taking as well as steps you can take to help us make it through the challenging days and weeks ahead.
Grace & Peace,
Rev. Donnie Wilkinson
