Preheat the furnace! Don’t feed the lions! How powerful is God?

The book of Daniel is full of prophetic visions and protective miracles.

In chapter three, King Nebuchadnezzar demanded the worship of a golden statue. The horn sounded and everyone fell on their knees. Well, almost everyone. Three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego refused. Nebuchadnezzar was enraged and threw them into a fiery furnace saying, "Then what god will be able to rescue you from my hand?”

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego replied to him, “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” Daniel 3:16-18

What Nebuchadnezzar saw was completely unexpected. God protected his people who walked out of the flames without so much as a smoky smell (v. 27).

Nebuchadnezzar declared,
“Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.” (v.28)
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego showed incredible faith while facing a fiery death. God was with them and saved them.

God is our protector too. The fires of life quickly singe our faith when we forget who is with us. The same God who saved the trio saved you and me by sending Jesus to save us from an ‘unquenchable fire’ of hell (see Mark 9:43). God protects His people.

In chapter six, Daniel was faithful to The Lord and prayed even when it was outlawed. Daniel was cast into a pit with a bloodthirsty lion. In the morning, the king and his servants returned to the pit, and what they discovered was completely unexpected...

I can’t wait!
The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

A place to give and a place to receive

The local community market is working to improve healthy food access in our community by rescuing food from local grocery stores, local farmers and redistributing it to any and all local families. In this way, they're reducing food waste while also making good food more accessible.

This outreach opportunity gives our church the chance to actively show the love of Jesus just up the road and in our community at large!

🍎What do our wonderful Market Assistant volunteers take care of?
Stocking the market and produce shelves, unloading and sorting grocery rescue donations, repackaging bulk food items, packing dry food boxes for community distribution, sorting produce boxes, composting food and recycling containers, sweeping, and sanitizing surfaces along with many other jobs within the shifts that can be of help.
