What:  The Government Relations Committee invites you to Eggs & Issues! Start your Saturday by hearing insights and important issues from your legislators and let your voice be heard. Breakfast is $5. January's breakfast is presented by U.S. Bank, N.A.

What:  The 100th Anniversary Annual Dinner of the Greater Burlington Partnership will celebrate with a champagne toast, special entertainment, community awards and a look back at our history.
Tickets:  A few tickets remain and can be purchased individually for $100, a half table of four for $425 or a table of eight for $850.
Attire:  Dress up with the rest of the Flappers and Gangsters! 1920s attire requested, but not required; business attire is an alternative.
Donate:  Showcase your business by donating to the Silent Auction. Businesses that donate to the Silent Auction are recognized in the program and from the podium for their donations. Businesses can donate a basket, products or gift certificates, or a monetary donation for a basket.

What:  The Des Moines County Inter-Agency Meeting is a monthly open meeting of social service providers and interested community members. We gather to share about services, programs, and events to assist those in Des Moines County. Anyone is welcome to join us and share. Our featured presenter for January is Rebecca Luers with Iowa Vocational Rehabilitation Services.

Life Long Learning Presents Nepal, 5 Years After The Earthquake 
What:  Join us for an informational and interesting presentation; Nepal was devastated by a 7.8 magnitude earthquake in 2015, killing 9,000 people. Now, 5 years later, the rural mountainous villages continue to suffer - schools remain in ruins, supplies are scarce, and families struggle to send their children to school. In 2020, 45 teachers and volunteers will deliver supplies, teach in classrooms and help pass out scholarships for school expenses. You may also drop off school supplies, clothes or personal items for this team to take over to Nepal.

Smart Start 
What:  This workshop will help you analyze your business idea and cover what you need to know to launch your business. You will learn how important a business plan is and ways to create it, how to conduct market research and estimate costs, prepare for a bank loan, legally organize your business and other license/permit requirements, record keeping and taxes, marketing ideas, and what financing options are available.

OSHA 30-Hour for General Industry 
What:  Training provides a variety of information to workers with some safety responsibility and will emphasize hazard identification, avoidance, control and prevention. Topics include, but are not limited to: Intro to OSHA; walking and working surfaces; exit routes, emergency action plans, fire prevention plans, and fire protection; PPE; hazardous communication; electrical; material handling; and managing safety and health.

SCC Great Tastes 
What:  Mark your calendar for the SCC Foundation's annual Great Tastes event! The fun starts with fabulous hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, beverage tasting of dozens of wines, beers and spirits, silent and live auctions, live music - and a few surprises. Great River Friends Offers Scholarships for 2020-2021 School Year
What:  Two types of scholarships are offered to students pursuing health care careers.
Applicants for high school scholarships must be seniors with minimum 3.0 grade point averages. They must live in or attend schools within Great River Health's service area (about 60 miles).  Applicants for continuing college student scholarships must have graduated from high schools in Great River Health's service area in the last 10 years and have completed at least one year of college. Students in graduate school may apply.

2020 Arctic Challenge at Burlington Bent River
What: 5 team members willing to perform 5 tasks in the outdoors for a local charity. $50 fee per team will go to your designated charity. For every pint and/or mug sold to team members or fans during the event, Bent River will donate $1 to your designated charity - so invite others to cheer on your team! 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize money. Good food and drinks during the event, with entertainment following. The number of teams will be limited, so sign up early! Challenges may include beer mug relay, keg roll race, snowball throw, snowball toss, polar bowling, tug of war, or similar challenges depending on the weather. The fifth challenge will be announced on the day of the event. If your team fails to show up, then your fee is forfeited and divided between the remaining charities.
