All other online resources are available and if you should have any questions, please feel free to call the Library Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m; Thursday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; and Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m. Introduction to BeekeepingDan Carr, owner of Beavertides Farm, takes you from the anatomy and social structure of honey bees to the basics of managing a hive, and teaches you about what it takes to start your very own beehive. Beavertides Farm is a sustainable livestock farm and apiary in Falls Village, CT. Besides raising sheep, goats and millions of honey bees, he and his wife, Maureen, teach classes in beekeeping, raising backyard chickens and other farming and homesteading related topics. On zoom. We will consider how and to what extent authors are successful in rendering the past, and discuss what works and why. There is one sense in which all of our most famous works are historical fiction, starting with Homer and the Bible, but our four novels will be recent publications. They have been arranged in pairs, two novels that start out in the West Indies, two novels that involve Europe and Japan. This month's book is Augustown by Kei Miller. The discussion is conducted by Betty Krasne, PhD., writer, professor emerita, and longtime Kent resident. On Zoom. Please call the Library to register.

Monday, March 15 at 12:00 p.m. Learn to Top Graft Apples and Pears with Justin Potter - outdoor event. Join Kent Memorial Library as Justin Potter shows us 'gentle top grafting;' adding scionwood of one variety onto a well established tree of another variety, but without the major surgery involved with standard top grafting. Doing this, Justin has added about 40 varieties onto three apple trees since 2018. Participants will be able to see grafts of different ages, where on the tree they worked well - and where they didn't - and learn some things that Justin had to learn the hard way. Please register. Address will be provided upon registration. This program is live, outside, off site, and masks and social distancing are required.
