March 15, 2020
Dear Carmel Family:

In the spirit of caring for the vulnerable, minimizing potential exposure and respecting yesterday's aggressive actions by our state leadership, the Carmel campus will be CLOSED (except for limited staff and the Counseling Center). All campus activities are CANCELED through Sunday, March 29

What does this mean?

Sunday Worship Online
We'll worship online Sunday, March 23 and March 29 at 9:30am. Plans beyond that will be made as we have more information. If you normally give during the Sunday morning offering, you can continue your faithful support of God's work through Carmel in the following ways:
  • Mail your check to Carmel (1145 Pineville-Matthews Road, Matthews NC 28105).
Caring for our Nearest
There are people in the Carmel family that are vulnerable - either because of age or other health issues. We have asked all of our deacons and small group leaders to stay in touch with those they lead in an effort to maintain community and to identify those that may have needs. I f you are connected to Carmel but not in a small group and want to share an update on your health concern or unmet need related to this current situation, please click here.

Caring for our Neighbors
As a church for our city, we're actively working with ministry partners, city leaders and other churches to identify unmet needs.
  • Pray. Let's commit to proactively pray for wisdom for the leaders in our city, schools, state, businesses and hospitals. And for medical professionals - doctors, nurses, EMTs, lab technicians, CNAs. Many are working overtime to provide care to those who are sick, all while putting themselves at risk. There are many wonderful medical professionals who are part of the Carmel family and we pray God will use each of them in a mighty way.
  • Local Nonprofits. We know many of you are actively seeking ways to love and serve neighbors. We are working closely with ministry leaders in our city to identify the most effective and efficient ways for the church to respond. As soon as opportunities are identified, we will alert the Carmel family. Please continue to pray for city and ministry leaders as they are facing many unprecedented decisions.
  • Carmel Disaster Relief. While this is different than our typical disaster relief efforts, the chaos, uncertainty and needs are quite similar. All donations designated to this fund will be given to trusted, vetted ministry partners meeting immediate and tangible needs. Click here to give above-and-beyond to Disaster Relief.
We'll continue to share ways we can be praying, encouraging and serving during these uncharted times. We will post updates on social media and email as appropriate.

Thanks for your flexibility in the face of an ever-changing season.  As we are reminded in Psalm 91:1-2...

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, "My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust."

Love you Carmel,

Pastor Alex & Team
