Virtual Spring Open House
Learn about all Raritan Valley Community College has to offer at the College's Virtual Spring Open House, April 25, at 11 a.m. Participants will be given the opportunity to ask questions during the Open House, which is being held via a Zoom webinar.
The webinar is designed for high school students and adults who are interested in pursuing a college degree or certificate at RVCC. College students who are interested in taking summer classes at RVCC or enrolling for the Fall Semester are welcome to participate. Hear from admissions and financial aid specialists, current students, alumni and faculty as you learn about:
* Enrolling in classes for the Summer and Fall Semesters, including online summer classes starting May 18
* The College's innovative academic programs designed to help students transfer to top colleges and universities
* The Honors College for high achieving students
* Student life and athletics
* Career training programs, designed in partnership with local industry
* Financial aid options, including scholarships, loans and grants
* Fee tuition for those who qualify, though RVCC's participation in the New Jersey Community College Opportunity Grant (CCOG) Program
The $25 application fee is waived for Virtual Open House participants.

Are you a college student looking to earn extra college credits this summer and save some money? Are you a high school junior or senior interested in getting a jump start on your college education? Check out RVCC's summer session. The first summer session begins May 18 with all online classes. Another session will be offered in July.

Honors College Virtual Information Session
High achieving high school students who are interested in learning more about RVCC's Honors College are invited to participate in a Virtual Information Session, April 16, 6-8 p.m.
The session, which will be offered via a Zoom webinar, will include information about admission to RVCC's Honors College and transfer opportunities after graduating from RVCC. Students in the top 20 percent of their high school class who possess a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, or have a cumulative SAT score of 1100 or higher, are encouraged to participate. The webinar also will include information about the NJ STARS Scholarship program.

Virtual Information Sessions
Learn about all RVCC has to offer by participating in a Virtual Information Session in April. The College is offering Virtual General Information Sessions, as well as special virtual sessions for its Automotive, Cosmetology and Esthetics programs.
Participants will have an opportunity to ask questions during the sessions. Registration is required, and the $25 application fee will be waived for prospective students who participate in any of the Virtual Information Sessions.

RVCC Creates 3D-Printed Face Shields
RVCC is joining efforts to help those on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic by creating Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be donated to area hospitals.
The College's Advanced Manufacturing program has teamed up with Somerset County Vocational & Technical High School, with assistance from RVCC's Engineering program and the Arts & Design Department, to create 3D-printed face-shields.

RVCC Student Receives National Honors from Civic Engagement Organization
RVCC student Dominick Zona of Hillsborough, a second-year Education major, has been selected as a Newman Civic Fellow by Campus Compact. Zona joins 290 students from across the country selected for this honor, which recognizes their leadership skills and commitment to finding solutions for challenges facing communities locally, nationally and internationally.
Zona was selected in part for his leadership efforts with the RVotes Matter Campaign action plan for the ALL IN CHALLENGE, a national program. The College's plan was selected as one of the top plans and will be used as an example of an outstanding action plan..

Giving Day Assists Students in Need, College Programs
Focusing on the importance of helping students in need at an especially difficult time, the RVCC Foundation held its annual "Giving Day" online fundraising campaign on March 19. The 24-hour effort benefitting students and the RVCC community at large netted $23,505, including more than $3,500 for the College's Student Emergency Fund/Food Pantry/Resource Center.

Astronomy Resources
While everyone is learning from home, the RVCC Planetarium has a number of resources for educators, students and the public to enjoy--from lessons on cosmology and earthquakes, to NASA podcasts, to YouTube channels featuring information about the Hubble Space Telescope and learning about the sky.

Rescheduled Theatre Performances
Several of the Theatre at RVCC's spring shows have been rescheduled for later this summer, including performances of Artrageous (August 7) and Shadows of the `60s (August 8).
