New Year, New Faces, New Places

Happy 2020. Some say it is the first year of a new decade; I would argue it’s the last year of the old decade, but that’s another conversation for another time. I hope you enjoyed your break and that your family is refreshed and rejuvenated for the second semester.

As we begin the new year, we welcome some new teachers, and some returning teachers will be in new roles, so I am sharing with you some of those changes.

First grade first, we extend our welcome to Ms. May. She started prior to break as the apprentice teacher in Ms. Gianforte’s room and will continue in that capacity. Ms. Larson served as a super sub for the last couple weeks of the semester and will become Ms. Bebow’s apprentice teacher for the second semester. Ms. Dunn, who had been serving as the apprentice teacher in Ms. Bebow’s class, will be available to serve as a sub in any grade level, as the need arises. On those days that we have perfect faculty attendance, Ms. Dunn is available to help with reading groups, reading practice with individual students, and a variety of other tasks in order to fully support our teachers and students.

In second grade, Ms. Hunt will be the new apprentice teacher for Ms. Herr. She will be in Ms. Herr’s class for the entire day; the role was previously split between two different teachers. We are excited to have Ms. Hunt join the second-grade team.

In third grade, Ms. Hamilton will be assisting Ms. Smith in the morning while continuing to teach her third- and fourth-grade music classes. Ms. Herman will still be with Ms. Smith, but only after 11:30. To find out how Ms. Herman will be spending her mornings, please read the paragraph after next.

In fifth grade, Ms. Page will be the new apprentice teacher for Ms. Mueller. “Any relation to the first-grade Ms. Page?” you may ask. “Why, yes, as a matter of fact.” Ms. Kennedy was married to Ms. Page’s son over winter break, moved from Texas, and will be joining us this week as our second Ms. Page. You can’t have too many Pages (or, at least, that’s what Dostoevsky thought).

In sixth grade, Ms. Marrufo is about to welcome a brand-new bundle of joy and intends to return to teaching in fourth quarter. In the meantime, Ms. Wooldridge has graciously agreed to teach sixth-grade math. We welcome Ms. Wooldridge back to ANP! Science will be co-taught by Mr. Sokolis and Ms. Herman (there she is!). Ms. Siebeneck will be the apprentice teacher in Ms. Brennan’s classroom for the remainder of the school year.

I want to thank everyone for their flexibility and their understanding as everyone settles into their new roles. I am thankful to be working with such an outstanding faculty and for such a supportive community as we close out this decade.

Truly,
Curtis Fee, Headmaster
