The first ever intersex-specific grant from the U.S. State Department Global Equality Fund will support The Intersex Human Rights Fund at the Astraea Foundation. Research, Resources and Updates 
  • In an Op-ed in the Congressional Policy blog The Hill, titled "Policymakers Should Take Seriously the Need to Make all LGBT Stories Visible Through Data," Laura E. Durso, Ph.D. and M.V. Lee Badgett, Ph.D. argue the need for data centered research about LGBTQ peple.
  • John Barnes, Executive Director of Funders Concerned About AIDS, reflects on the role of philanthropy in the ongoing effort to end AIDS and the need for further collaboration between the philanthropic and public sectors to "drive robust, coordinated funding and to reach the populations most at risk."
Requests for Proposals
  • AIDS United has announced the opportunity for grant support through the Southern Regional Expansion of Access and Capacity to Address HIV/AIDS (REACH) initiative. This initiative aims to address the disproportionate impact of HIV/AIDS in the Southern United States by supporting community based organizations (CBOs) to expand their local advocacy infrastructures through voter engagement, the meaningful involvement of people living with HIV in policy-making, and the integration of HIV into key social and racial justice frameworks. Applications are due no later than 5:00 PM Eastern Time on October 7, 2016.   • CenterLink is accepting LOIs for capacity-building projects designed to expand the variety, quality, and accessibility of mental health services offered at LGBT community centers. A total of $150,000 will be awarded to centers with grants ranging from $10,000 - $25,000. Applicants should first submit a letter of interest by October 16, 2016. For more information and to apply, click here.
  • The Red Envelope Giving Circle is accepting inquiries and applications for grants to those launching or continuing an API-LGBTQ led project. Organizations can apply for a Red Envelope Giving Circle (REGC) grant of up to $3,000. Proposals must be submitted by October 1, 2016All inquiries should be directed to REGCgrantcommittee@gmail.com.
  • The Stonewall Community Foundation is now accepting proposals to fund organizations and projects that are addressing challenges to service provision for LGBTQ youth in New York City in unique and novel ways. One-year grants for up to $4,000 will be awarded in November. Completed proposals are due by no later than   noon   on  October 20th, 2016For more information and to apply,  click here.

Kristi Andrasik
Kristi, Program Officer at the Cleveland Foundation, was the recipient of the Human Rights Campaign's 2016 Cleveland Choice Award. You can see her speech upon accepting the honor at the 2016 HRC Cleveland Gala, here. Congratulations, Kristi! 

Terry Boggis

 Judy has been hired as a new program officer in Wellspring Advisors' Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Program. Judy has a background in LGBT advocacy, youth services, and criminal justice reform, serving most recently as Director of the Juvenile Justice Project at the Correctional Association of New York.
