Sports Update

Game Recaps:
Girls
The girls basketball team got down early to Central Lutheran, but fought back to within 4 points in the 4th quarter before falling 28-20. Great team defense helped lead the rally. Shay Sundblad, Eno Ituk, Nora Miller and Sophia Greazel led the way in scoring, while Kendall Pitcher and Grace Dalmasso generated several key steals for the defense.

5/6th Boys
The Eagle Boys JV team had their first home game Tuesday in a lop-sided affair against the Cedar Valley Huskies. The Eagles took an early lead and never looked back winning by double digits. The Eagles built confidence by continuing to build the lead regardless which Eagle was in the game. This made for a fun game for all as everyone contributed to this high scoring game.

Thursday night, the Eagles once again took to the court against the Cougars from Central Lutheran and built an early lead through strong defense and taking the ball to the hoop. After building on a half time lead of 10 and even doubling the lead in the 3rd quarter, the Cougars rallied in the 4th cutting the lead to as close as 6 but the Eagles stood strong and prevailed 32 to 24. The Eagles will be watching for the next game with the Cougars because the Cougars will be on the prowl for revenge.

7/8 th Grade Boys
The 7/8 th Eagles opened with a loss to INCA with one of our leading scorers, Trey Schweitzer, sidelined due to injury. With Schweitzer back in the line-up, the Eagles came out strong in their home opener against the Central Lutheran Cougars. With the help of a few fast breaks, the Eagles quickly took the lead and continued to dominate the game. Final score was 37-13 thanks to a buzzer beater by Idara Ituk. Leading scorers were Zachary Ahrens and Trey Schweitzer, both with 10 points and Andrew Rotzoll with 6 points. The Eagles face the Trinity Lutheran Trojans next Tuesday. Looking for their first win against the Trojans, it should prove to be a good match-up.
