Pfizer Booster Shots Now Available
Contra Costa Health Services recently announced that some groups of residents who have received Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine can now consider a booster dose, if at least six months have passed since they were fully vaccinated.

Scientists have been researching how long high levels of protection will last. After reviewing the research, federal and state health experts have determined that some people who received the Pfizer vaccine should get a booster, including:

At this time, you must schedule an appointment for a booster shot at Contra Costa Health Services (CCHS) vaccination sites. They are not accepting walk-ins without an appointment for boosters yet.

State Rent Relief Program Still Accepting Applications
The Housing Is Key CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program covers 100% of unpaid rent and utilities as well as future rent payments for income-eligible renters and their landlords who have been impacted by the pandemic.

If you are at-risk of eviction and behind on rent due to the pandemic, or if you are a landlord with tenants that have back rent, check eligibility and apply through the link below or by calling 833-430-2122.

California’s and Contra Costa County's eviction protections are scheduled to end on Sept. 30, 2021. Applications for rent relief will continue to be accepted on an ongoing basis until program funds are exhausted.

Concord Seeks Community Input on Future Housing Needs
The City of Concord invites residents to join the first community meetings about its Housing Element Update, a plan for addressing the City’s housing needs from 2023 through 2031.

Participants will learn more about this process and how they can help shape the City’s decisions on housing. During the family-friendly outdoor town hall meeting on Oct. 16, lunch will be provided for the first 50 attendees.

There are two ways to participate:
  • In-person/Outdoors: Saturday, October 16 at the Concord Senior Center’s front patio (2727 Parkside Circle), 12-3 p.m. (open house format – come by anytime!)

The Housing Element Update is a state-mandated process overseen by the CA Department of Housing and Community Development. California requires all local governments to adequately plan to meet the housing needs of everyone in the community. Cities and counties fulfill this requirement by adopting housing plans as part of their general plan. Concord updates its Housing Element every eight years.
