Weekly Update
February 3, 2021
From the Dean's Office
HEALTHSHIELD UPDATE
We have added a fourth, required question to our HealthShield verification protocol. All students, faculty and staff who will be on campus must affirm compliance to the Bishop Blanchet COVID-19 Community Pledge prior to arrival. The additional HealthShield question reads as follows: Have you violated any of the expectations outlined in the Bishop Blanchet COVID-19 Community Pledge?

As a reminder, the Bishop Blanchet HealthShield number is (855) 952-3601. We encourage all parents and guardians to save this as a contact in their cell phone.

HEALTHSHIELD REGISTRATION
All students and families must participate in Bishop Blanchet’s health screening protocols, which include a parent or guardian attesting to their student’s health. Students will not be permitted on campus or allowed to participate in any school sponsored activity without a verified and current health screening. If you have not yet registered your student, click here to learn more about the registration process. If you have any questions, please email Chris Bilanko, Dean of Students.

REQUIRED REPORTING OF POSITIVE CASE OF COVID-19
If a student or member of their household tests positive for COVID-19, families must notify the Dean’s Office by contacting Chris Bilanko, Dean of Students, and follow the BBHS COVID-19 Community Protocols prior to returning to campus or participating in any school sponsored activity. This information will remain confidential and allow the school to initiate its communication protocols. Any student who does not follow BBHS COVID-19 Community Protocols will face disciplinary consequences and may be prohibited from participating in on-campus learning and extracurricular activities. In the event of a positive case in our student body, faculty or staff, Bishop Blanchet will communicate to the entire community and work directly with families if their student is impacted.

PARKING ON CAMPUS
Here are our parking tips for the week. If you have any questions, please email Marilu Byrne, BBHS Security Officer.
  • Do not use parking spaces for drop off. All parking spots have been assigned.
  • The fire lane on the south end of the parking lot is where drop-off and pick-up begins. Please pull forward to the top of the gate and keep moving forward as vehicles move and leave the lot.
  • Make sure that your student is ready to exit the vehicle when you enter the parking lot.

TRAVEL ADVISORY RETURN TO PLAY PLAN
Student athletes who have traveled or are planning to travel out of the state or country after November 13 must complete this form to establish a quarantine/return to play plan.

Students who plan on participating in Season 1 or 2, please be aware of the dates of our Spring Break (April 2 - April 11, 2021). If the travel advisory is still in effect, student-athletes will need to quarantine for 14 days if traveling outside of Washington State, before returning to participate in their sport.

ATHLETIC SEASON UPDATE
Governor Inslee revised the Healthy Washington Plan which now requires regions to meet only three of the four public health metrics to move into the next reopening phase. As a result, the Puget Sound Region moved into Phase 2 beginning Monday, February 1.

The Athletic Department is working with the Metro League to finalize schedules for the upcoming season. Tryout dates and times will also be released in the coming weeks.

FAMILY-ID REGISTRATION AND MEDICAL HISTORY FORM REMINDER
All student athletes are required to have an updated 2020-2021 Medical History Form uploaded to your FamilyID profile. Please also ensure you have registered your student athlete through FamilyID for the sport(s) they are interested in playing.

PHYSICALS: UPDATED POLICY FOR 2020-21
Bishop Blanchet strongly encourages all athletes to get annual physicals. Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the challenge of scheduling appointments with physicians, Bishop Blanchet will accept physicals dated within the last two years for the 2020-2021 school year. Note: physicals cannot expire during a season an athlete is participating in. If a physical is set to expire before or during a season, the athlete must have a new one before they can tryout or participate in the remainder of that season.

SEEKING INTERESTED STUDENT ANNOUNCERS
The Athletic Department is seeking interested students to do play by play for various athletic events on campus for our live stream audience. Please click here and fill out this survey. The Athletic Department will reach out with more information.
