In 2014, Funders for LGBTQ Issues explored funding for LGBTQ immigrants and refugees in our report Pathways Forward. Immigration issues have evolved significantly since the release of that report and in this environment of extreme hostility towards immigrants, we're highlighting some of the work being done by grantmakers to advance the rights and improve the well-being of LGBTQ immigrants, refugees, and asylees .

The Center for American progress reports on a range of options for nonlegislative actions that can be taken by executives managing local governments in order to better protect, serve, and include LGBTQ residents.

Inside Philanthropy profiled the recent UNITY Summit, a gathering of over 700 attendees from across the spectrum of social justice philanthropy.

This new report from the Barnard Center for Research on Women calls for immediate, concerted, comprehensive, sustained, cross-sector, collaborative philanthropic response to the growing crisis of criminalization and offers detailed analysis and recommendations for action.

Defending the Dream Fund The Hill-Snowdon Foundation, General Service Foundation, Jesse Smith Noyes Foundation, the Whitman Institute and other partners are seeking proposals for the 2nd round of the Defending the Dream Fund. The Defending the Dream Fund supports organizing to address deleterious policies and institutional practices that are either the direct result of or that have been emboldened, aided and abetted by the policies and positions of the new federal administration. Priority will be given to grassroots community based organizations with budgets under $1 million as well as work that is focused on under-resourced regions of the country. The deadline to submit proposals for the 2nd Round is Monday October 9th.

The NAP #GenIndigenous Response Fund provides grants up to $5,000 to youth organizing groups responding to current moments in ways that build long-term power for Native youth. The fund provides grants to organizations playing leadership roles in their local communities while considering efforts to support the long term engagement of youth leaders in advocacy efforts. The submission deadline for the second round of grants is
October 20, 2017.

AIDS United, in partnership with Funders Concerned About AIDS, and support from Gilead Sciences, Ford Foundation, Elton John AIDS Foundation, and ViiV Healthcare, is seeking proposals for funding from the Southern HIV Impact Fund. The fund focuses on the needs of individuals and communities affected by HIV in three primary areas: prevention; care and support; and policy, advocacy and movement building. Written applications are due no later than
5:00 pm Eastern Time on September 29, 2017. A $1 million rapid-response fund to help HIV organizations impacted by Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria was also recently announced. Applications for rapid-response funding will be accepted on a rolling basis from organizations serving people living and affected by HIV in the affected regions. More information is available
