February 2021 Newsletter
Tune In Tomorrow at Noon!
The University of Miami is hosting a series of presentations and conversations focused on anti-racism and climate justice. ALL are welcome in the audience - UM community and beyond - please join us!

The conversation series includes three more webinars that will explore various aspects of injustices through the lens of climate change:
  • Miami Climate Justice Leadership | Monday, February 22, 2021 6:30-7:30 pm ET

  • Miami Climate Justice Activism | Monday, March 22, 2021 6:30-7:30 pm ET

  • Energy and Housing Justice in a Changing Climate | Monday, May 3, 2021 6:30-7:30 pm ET

The VoLo Foundation is hosting the 2021 Florida Climate Week, which will bring region-specific and topic-specific content on the impacts and solutions of climate change in the state of Florida. We will be hosting virtual and FREE sessions from organizations around the state.

Applications to host a virtual event are now open. The information can be found under the “Partners” tab on the website.

If the Legislature approves the new program, “Resilient Florida” will use revenues from the state documentary stamp tax to pay for the debt service on $1 billion in bonds for projects that address the impacts of climate change.

New Website Tells Climate Story from Visual Perspective
Gray Read from Florida International University has developed the website Climate Powers of 10. Using data from recent, peer-reviewed sources, the website tracks the full sweep of climate history and possible futures and makes the information accessible to students and general readers.

If you have any climate-related research, news items, or events that you would like to submit for consideration in the next newsletter, please email them to info@floridaclimateinstitute.org
