Funding Opportunity
GRO1000 Grassroots grants help foster the development of gardens and green spaces in the U.S. Grants are awarded to local communities throughout the country to help bring pollinator habitats, edible gardens, and public green spaces to more neighborhoods. The focus is on garden and green space beautification projects that involve and engage neighborhood residents and foster a sense of community spirit. Eligible applicants include nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and government entities. Visit the Scotts Miracle-Gro website to apply online.

The Dollar General Literacy Foundation supports nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and libraries that offer literacy programs in communities served by Dollar General in 44 states. The Foundation provides support through the following grant programs:
  • Adult Literacy Grants support nonprofit organizations that provide direct services to adults in need of literacy assistance.
  • Family Literacy Grants support family literacy service providers that combine parent and youth literacy instruction.
  • Summer Reading Grants help nonprofit organizations and libraries with the implementation or expansion of summer reading programs for students who are new readers, below grade level readers, or readers with learning disabilities.

The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) is providing grants to support public lands, including parks, nature areas, and other green spaces, that have been impacted by increased use during the COVID-19 pandemic. The focus is on supporting agencies and organizations responsible for maintaining public lands by distributing resources and mobilizing volunteers to help keep up with increased human presence in these delicate ecosystems. Nonprofit organizations, state or federal government agencies, federally recognized tribes and local governments, and educational institutions are eligible to apply. Beyond Words: The Dollar General School Library Relief Fund, administered by the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), supports public school libraries in the communities served by Dollar General. The Fund provides grants to pre-K – 12 public schools with school library programs that have been affected by a natural disaster, fire, or an act of terrorism. Schools that have absorbed a significant number of displaced/evacuee students are also eligible to apply. Grants are intended to help replace or supplement books, media, or library equipment. Eligible applicants must be located within 20 miles of a Dollar General store, distribution center, or corporate office. Grant applications are accepted on an ongoing basis. The Cobb County CDBG Program Office is soliciting grant applications for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), and the HOME Investment Partnerships (HOME) Programs. Applications will be accepted from Monday, February 1, 2021 through Friday, April 2, 2021. Two (2) virtual application workshops have been scheduled to provide nonprofit organizations an opportunity to learn more about the application process and information to assist with strengthening their organization’s grant application. Workshop topics will include program overviews and eligibility, Survey Apply registration, and application requirements.
