City Council approves $7.8 million for street maintenance projects
|
The contracts with Alpha Paving and Texas Materials total $7.8 million and will provide for repairs to curbs, curb ramps, gutters, sidewalks, driveways and pavement as well as pavement milling and overlay.

City carves out successful local sculpture program
|
With sculpture sales soaring to more than $860,000 since the City hosted the 27th Annual
SculptFest
in April 2019, exhibits in Round Rock are proving to be beneficial for both the local community and the artists sharing their work.
With the support of Round Rock’s Art Sculpture Program, artist Cindy Debold was able to recently place her sculpture entitled, “Me, Myself and I” at
Baylor Scott and White Medical Center,
allowing it to be viewed by thousands daily.
The City hopes to carry the success of the sculpture program into 2020, an effort anchored by hosting an expanded Sculptfest April 24-26 at Centennial Plaza.

Parks and Rec opens THE YARD at Clay Madsen Rec Center

The City of Round Rock
Parks and Recreation Department
will host a Grand Opening Celebration for the City’s new covered outdoor fitness center on Feb. 22. The event will feature hands on fitness demonstrations, swag items and more. The entire community is invited.
THE YARD is a major addition to the
Clay Madsen Recreation Center
and features state of the art fitness equipment and amenities. The new facility will offer residents even more options to stay fit at an affordable price for all families.

City to host comprehensive plan open houses
|

The City of Round Rock is currently finalizing its new Comprehensive Plan, Round Rock 2030. Public input has been gathered over the past two years through surveys, in-person meetings and online polls to develop this long-range document, which will serve as the policy guide and framework for land use decisions over the next decade. Drafts of the document are available starting Feb. 21 at
roundrocktexas.gov/roundrock2030
, or at the Round Rock Public Library 216 E. Main St. Final adoption of the plan is expected to take place this spring.
The public will be able to review the plan’s content, interact with staff and give feedback at the following open houses:

The RRPD Kids ID program provides children’s identification kits at no charge to the community. One of the most important tools for officers to use when searching for a missing child is readily-available and up-to-date identifying information, such as a high-quality photo and fingerprints. RRPD uses Child ID Kits to provide parents with photos, fingerprint cards and other information in a packet that they can give to first responders if their child is ever missing or involved in an emergency.
