MAFP ASKS CONGRESSIONAL DELEGATION FOR REIMBURSEMENT FOR TELEPHONE VISITS
:
The MAFP is sending letters this week
to our Congressional Delegation
and CMS to ensure that telephone/audio visits without a visual component are reimbursed to the full extent.
SMALL BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION PAYCHECK PROTECTION PROGRAM
: The Paycheck Protection Program is a loan designed to provide a direct incentive for small businesses to keep their workers on the payroll. SBA will forgive loans if all employees are kept on the payroll for eight weeks and the money is used for payroll, rent, mortgage interest, or utilities. GUIDANCE FOR OUTPATIENT MANAGEMENT OF COVID PATIENTS
: The University of Michigan Department of Family Medicine has put out
DFM COVID-19 Guildelines
which are constantly being updated. These include triage guidance, scheduling workflow and more.
MS STATE BOARD OF MEDICAL LICENSURE
: At a meeting Sunday, the
MSBML issued a supplemental proclamation
clarifying that until action is taken to life the emergency, out-of-state physicians may utilize telemedicine when treating patients in Mississippi with whom they already have a pre-existing doctor-patient relationship, without the necessity of securing a license to practice medicine in the state, provided the out of state physician holds an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the state in which the physician practices and currently is not the subject of an investigation or disciplinary proceeding."
CENTERS FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID SERVICES
:
- CMS released a video this week providing answers to common questions about the Medicare Telehealth services benefit.
- CMS Tuesday released a Clinician Letter that outlines a summary of actions CMS has taken to ease regulations.
- CMS has updated its recommendations to postpone non-essential surgeries and other procedures to conserve critical healthcare resources.
MS STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH
: On Saturday, the MS State Department of Health
put out a recommendation
that all health care professionals wear surgical masks throughout the workday - even those without direct patient contact.
