OPEN MIC NIGHT FUNDRAISER CANCELED
In accordance with the district mandate, the Center School Open Mic Night Fundraiser scheduled to occur on March 12 at 6:30pm has been canceled. There are no plans to reschedule at this time.
CSCA BOARD MEETING CLOSED
Generally CSCA board meetings are open to all members of the community regardless of PTSA membership status. In an abundance of caution, the CSCA Executive Board has made the unprecedented decision to close the March 19th meeting and utilize a remote forum. Attendance will be limited to executive members in order to enable the board to conduct business in an efficient manner.

The Board would like to remain transparent to the community and is available by email: [email protected].

Meeting minutes from CSCA board meetings are a matter of public record. Minutes from the March meeting will be made available upon request in April.
AUCTION NEWS

In support of CDC guidelines, the annual auction has been postponed until June 5th.

Early Bird pricing has been extended through May 15th.

MATH UPDATE

My name is Patrick McLane and I've been filling in as the math teacher for the last couple weeks at Center School. I've been enjoying the time with the students and wanted to touch base briefly.

I've been coaching, teaching and working the Seattle area for about 20 years now and have always enjoying working with math students. As I've told the students, I'm juggling a number of part time jobs and hope to be able to maintain a schedule allowing me to go forward and continue with these math classes.

My plan as it stands, is to go forward teaching the topics that would be typically be covered this time of year. Then to use the final 4-6 weeks of the year to review the entirety, and, time permitting include some personal finance related math.

Most immediately, I encourage you to check your students grade. I've put in time to record their assignments. We've been completing a number of brief assignments that have done in class or as homework. Please know that I ask the students spend no more than 20 good minutes on any single HW assignment.

Thanks for the support,
Patrick McLane

[Editor's note:  Mr. McLane wrote this parent letter for inclusion in the Dragon's Fire prior to the school closure announcement.  Please stay tuned for details about future instruction plans.  There will be no online learning as the district said not all students will have access to laptops and internet.]

EMERGENCY FOOD PLAN
SPS states "We have an emergency food plan which will be put into place on Monday, March 16. More information will be provided by Friday, March 13."

The Seattle Times reports that "about 50 or 60 sites will be open for food service starting Monday. Ideally, they will operate similar to the way food service is run during the summer, in a collaboration between the district and local child care providers." There are currently no plans to offer food on Thursday or Friday.
