UN WOMEN - NOW MORE THAN EVER
Women health-sector workers are at the forefront of the battle against coronavirus - saving lives and protecting communities at a perilous risk. As they respond to this pandemic, governments must ensure that women have a proportionate voice in decision making and recognize the critical role of women's networks and women's organizations in the response. Women's health and economic needs must not be sidelined when governments and agencies develop recovery plans.
In Africa, where many countries are ill-prepared to handle this crisis, UN Women will be providing personal protection equipment for frontline workers and unpaid caretakers. Other critical services from UN Women include training, mental health programs, safe spaces, and ambulatory and rescue services for women and girls with restricted access to testing and treatment.
