Lunch Break News Weekly
Let's Start With The Good News!
A local organization that coordinates Wareham cleanup efforts is the big winner in the friendly competition between the Wareham Fire Department and the A.D. Makepeace Company to see who could get more blood donors.

Technically, we came in second place, so the Fire Department got to select the recipient of our $100 wager. They selected " Don't Trash Wareham" - AND will pony up their own contribution to match ours.

In other good news:

  • The Mayflower (shown above) is returning to Plymouth Harbor after three years of restoration work in Mystic, CT.
  • Our shellfish farmer sold more than 900 oysters at his first ever appearance at the Rosebrook Farmers' Market this week.
  • The weather forecast for this weekend looks pretty good, slightly cooler with slightly less humidity.
  • Turns out some sodium in your diet is actually good for you.
  • The Narrows Crossing Restaurant in downtown Wareham has finally reopened.
  • The Red Sox have won two games in a row and visit the Yankees tonight; first pitch is at 7:05 p.m. Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics' season resumes tonight at 6:30, and the Bruins are back on Sunday at 3.
Everyone Is Reminded To Stay Vigilant
Face Mask 2
Reminder to all employees: You are required to wear a mask when in common areas of buildings on A.D. Makepeace Company property. It's not just our requirement. It's state law and it's common sense to protect yourself, your coworkers, and other people you care about.

Also, Governor Baker has signed an executive order which requires all travelers, residents and non-residents arriving in Massachusetts to quarantine for 14 days if coming from a state with a higher incidence of COVID-19 than MA. Right now, that includes all states except the New England states and New York, New Jersey and Hawaii. The order goes into effect on August 1. Read more here, and if you are traveling to another state, please make sure you understand any requirements which may apply there.
Evening Activities Curtailed in Carver Due To EEE Threat
Effective tomorrow, outdoor activities at Carver parks and playgrounds are banned between dusk and dawn due to the discovery of additional mosquitoes carrying the EEE virus. Click here for details. All employees are urged to use insect spray when working outdoors anywhere in the area. See Kevin in the shop if you need more.
