Our popular Glorious Food Focus Week needs volunteers and chaperones to make it a delicious success. A fun and tasty experience for everyone!
  • Wednesday, May 25: Lunch at PCC, Bellevue. One chaperone needed.
  • On Thursday and Friday, May 26–27: Theo Chocolate Factory and PCC, Seattle. Two chaperones needed for Thursday. Three chaperones needed for Friday.

NOMINATIONS FOR ISPTSA OFFICERS

AP EXAMS  

THIS Monday, May 2–Friday, May 13

To our AP Test Takers, good luck, Titans! Tests are May 213 for our high school students, but testing will affect all students due to closed spaces and room shifts on some days. Testers and parents, please see the schedule and details here. Some tests are offsite, and students are responsible for their own transportation. Email Jill Follett, AP Coordinator, with questions.

FRENCH EXCHANGE PROGRAM

Interest Meeting: Thursday, May 19, 6 PM
International School Library

The International School French Department is delighted to announce that we will be resuming the French exchange program in the 2022–2023 school year. Thirty applicants will be selected via lottery to host thirty French students from Lycée Saint Stanislas in Nantes. The following May, our students will travel to Nantes to stay with the families of the students they hosted in December. It is a two-week trip that includes a homestay in Nantes and an extended class field trip in Paris. There will be an interest meeting for families on Thursday, May 19 at 6 PM in the IS library. The trip is open to all upcoming 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. Note that this meeting occurs one hour before the IS Spring Band Concert for parents who would like to attend both. SMARTER BALANCED ASSESSMENTS AT IS

Monday, May 16–Friday, May 20

The Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) will take place the week of May 16–20. We will utilize a 2-hour late start during this week with regular classes beginning at 10:15.
  • 6th, 8th, and 10th-grade students will arrive at 8:15 AM to complete the SBA assessments in English Language Arts and Math each day.
  • Students in 11th grade will arrive at 8:15 AM to complete the WCAS Science assessment on Thursday and Friday only. They will have a late arrival on other days.
  • Students in 9th and 12th grade will arrive at 10:15 AM each day. We will have supervised spaces for students who arrive earlier than 10:15 AM.
 
Student reminders for testing:
  • Bring your laptop fully charged each day from May 1620.
  • Bring your power cord in case your battery does die.
  • Bring WIRED headphones. Bluetooth headphones will not work.
  • Bring your normal school materials as well as your fully charged laptop. 
  • We are operating on a late start schedule so you will still go to all your classes.
INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL 30TH BIRTHDAY MERCHANDISE

International’s 30th celebration t-shirts are now available for purchase! These fashion-forward shirts are perfect for International School’s Déjeuner en Blanc event on June 10. COLLEGE BOOTCAMP FOR JUNIORS
 
Monday–Friday, August 15–19 
AM session is 9 AM–Noon
PM session is 1–4 PM. 
 
College Boot Camp is a summer workshop for International School rising seniors designed to kick start the college application process. This camp is presented by the International School staff. At this time, we are planning on hosting an in-person camp following COVID spacing guidelines. Payment, made online through the student’s account in TouchBase, is registration. The cost is $100. Space is limited. If you know you qualify for financial aid, if you would like to request financial aid, or if you have questions, email Colleen Courtney, High School Counselor.

Across the country, Friday, May 6 is recognized as School Lunch Hero Day! Given all that Nutrition Services has done over the past 2+ years to ensure that free meals remained available for students in our community, let's make this year’s celebration extra special. IEP 101 VIRTUAL PARENT WORKSHOP

Please join the Bellevue Special Needs PTA and BSD’s Special Education Department for this parent-focused workshop on navigating the IEP process. BELLEVUE PTSA COUNCIL SCHOLARSHIPS

Deadline THIS Friday, May 6 at 11:59 PM

Each year, Bellevue PTSA Council offers twelve $1000-scholarships to seniors representing each high school in BSD:
  • The Alice Hurd Memorial Scholarship recognizes outstanding community service and rewards one student from each high school with a $1000 scholarship.
  • The Bellevue PTSA Council Scholarship rewards the academic excellence of one graduating senior from each high school.

SPRING FOR SCHOOLS

On Friday, May 13, you'll have a chance to watch the premiere of our new movie, School Spirit, at Spring for Schools. Click here to check out the trailer!

You are invited to join this year’s Spring for Schools luncheon, hosted by the Bellevue Schools Foundation at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue on May 13. Options are available for both in-person and virtual registration. This year, the Foundation distributed over $800,000 in funding for mental health resources, computer science initiatives, early learning enrollment, music, certification for district educators, classroom innovation, arts enrichment, and more.

LAKE TO LAKE BIKE RIDE

Saturday, June 11, 8 AM1 PM

The Lake to Lake Bike ride on June 11 is a low-cost, family-friendly, recreational bike ride. Sponsored by the City of Bellevue and Overlake Medical Center, this ride provides riders of all levels and abilities with an opportunity to experience Bellevue by bicycle. Riders can choose between two different routes—a 9-mile loop for families or less experienced cyclists, and a more challenging 24-mile loop with some hills. The event will feature prize raffles, refreshments, and freebies for all participants. HIGH SCHOOL COMMUNITY SERVICE HELPING SUMMER ART CAMPS
 
Art Camp ‘Go-Go with Van Gogh’ at Kelsey Creek Farm needs volunteers to assist instructors for weekly summer camps. Activities include drawing, painting, printmaking, collage, mixed media, and sketching. Here is a description of the art camp. Volunteers commit to one week beginning June 27, July 5, July 11, July 18, August 8, and August 15, and hours are Monday to Friday, 9:15 AM3:15 PM. You must be 15 years or older, follow directions, have a friendly and positive attitude, and enjoy being with children 610 years. Responsibilities include passing out supplies, cleaning up, and playing with campers at recess. We're Back in Person This Summer! UW Youth & Teen Programs has a variety of hands-on, in-person classes at UW Seattle for students entering the fourth to twelfth grade.
