The search for a new Head of School at ELCA is underway. We know that God has gone before us and we continue to pray for discernment and guidance as we seek the very best candidate to lead ELCA into the future. We also continue to pray for unity and cohesion in our school and our community and for patience as we all navigate this process.
Mr. Gilliam continues to build a legacy of faith, leadership and excellence that is felt by ELCA students and their families as well as school faculty and staff. It could be easy for us to feel discouraged as we consider the great impact that Mr. Gilliam has had on ELCA and our community, but we know that we are called to follow God and not man – a humbling reminder for us to continue to pray fervently for God’s will throughout the search. Countless families have been forever impacted by Kingdom Education at ELCA and many of us have seen our children come to know Jesus Christ during their time at Eagle's Landing Christian Academy. We know that God will continue to do a great work in our school and while Mr. Gilliam will be missed tremendously, we are excited for him and his family and we are excited about the future of our school.
In the coming weeks, we will provide a video update with more details on the search and insight into the process. As a reminder, you can stay up to date on the search here and feel free to contact us with any comments or questions via email.

ELCA School Nurse, Linda Payne is happy to update our ELCA Family on our COVID cases. Our last positive case in the school was on September 4. We do have a handful of students who are currently quarantined due to possible exposure. Those exposures occurred outside of ELCA.
It'’s very encouraging that our mitigation strategies seem to be making a difference. As virtual students return to class we will continue to maximize the space between each desk and enforce our hygiene and personal distancing strategies. Of course, COVID is still real and it will continue to make its way into our school. We are starting to see our typical strep, colds, allergies, and asthma flare-ups. We are all back together after being apart for months and seasonal illnesses are still going to be present. Our families are doing a great job in keeping sick students at home and being vigilant. If you have further questions, please contact Linda Payne.

A Glimpse from Recent Chapel Services
|
|
Pastor Luke McGee is the McDonough Co-Campus Pastor at the Momentum Church and spoke to students in chapel about how Kingdom culture is rich with diversity. God created diversity but through our differences, he wants us to be one and united in Him. Through tension, there is an opportunity to share the gospel and love those who are different from ourselves. We appreciate Pastor Luke sharing his personal experiences and encouraging us to stay Kingdom-focused as we celebrate diversity.

Al Tennyson, the Founder and President of Awaken International Ministries, shared a message about hope with middle and high school students. Focusing on 1 Peter, he emphasized how our identity is found in Jesus Christ. There is nothing more precious than life and if you don't find hope in Jesus, you won't find hope in anything else. He challenged the students to look forward to being merciful to people who have let you down as God's medicine and remedy to everything is grace.

Second grade EXCEL students recently worked on problem solving and the engineering design challenge. Their problem was that squirrels were getting into their pumpkin patch and eating their pumpkins. Students were tasked to build something to keep this from happening. They were supplied with 40 straws, 4 feet of tape, and 40 minutes. They turned out great!

Mr. Jones' sixth grade students are studying Ancient Egypt learning about pyramids, pharaohs, the Nile River and the Mummification process. The students watched documentaries about the Egyptian Mummification process and several students were selected to be mummified themselves, using paper towels or toilet tissue to complete their walking mummies. An exercise beneficial to understanding the Egyptian belief system as compared/contrasted to Biblical truths about the afterlife.
