Edition 40 | December 17th, 2019
Dear Friends,

As the year 2019 comes to a close, we realize the many reasons why we are thankful. This year the Army Women’s Foundation celebrated our 50th Anniversary of service to women in the Army and reflecting back, we are proud of so many accomplishments since our humble beginnings in 1969. Each year we continue to strive to honor, empower, and connect Army women through our scholarship program , Hall of Fame recognition, and professional development programs. We are delighted with this year’s leadership forum held during AUSA’s Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C. This fascinating and well-attended program featured the 6888th Postal Battalion , the U.S. Army’s only all-African American, all-female unit sent overseas during World War II.

To all our subscribers and supporters, thank you for helping to ensure our Foundation can continue to have an essential role in preserving the long and impressive history of women in the Army and empowering Army women for the future. Let's continue to support each other in all we do!

We look forward to 2020 and the next 50 years!
Happy New Year!

Sister's Graduate Basic Training Together at Fort Leonard Wood
For PVT Malia Registe, graduating from basic training on Nov. 14 alongside her sister, PFC Marlina Registe, was very special. However, she was also graduating five minutes from her home in Fort Leonard Wood's on-post housing, and they're both graduating in front of their father, Chief Warrant Officer 5 Dean Registe, U.S. Army Engineer School Regimental Chief Warrant Officer.
Honor. Empower. Connect.
Younger sister outranks older sister on deployment.

"I remember saluting her for the first time," said Eliana. It was in Fort Bragg and I just thought, oh, I can't believe years ago I changed her diaper and now I'm saluting her. It was one of the proudest moments of my life."
More U.S. Military Academy cadets received their top branch assignment this year than in 2018 as West Point held its first Branch Night under the new Army talent-management system.

About 800 Army officers seeking battalion command will undergo five days of “scientifically valid” assessments of their physical and mental capabilities to determine their eligibility and ranking for command. A cadre of 150 senior officers, behavioral scientists and others will be standing by to perform the evaluations.
