The library will be closed
Saturday, May 28, 2022
in observance of Memorial Day.

Forms and concrete continued this past week.
Things are going relatively smoothly, and pretty much on schedule.

The Dunbarton Public Library is operating only
in a "Curbside Pick-up Mode" for the duration of the construction project.

NO INSIDE LIBRARY ACCESS DURING THE ESTIMATED 20 WEEKS OF CONSTRUCTION per Dunbarton Board of Selectmen.
Please find our exterior book drop in the front of the building.
Curbside pick-ups and library staff will be on the front porch of the building--Route 13 side.
If no one is outside to assist, please call 774-3546, and we will come right out.

In good weather (ie no wind, rain), we will bring books outside for you to browse!

Please park at town offices and walk across the lawn. The way is clearly marked. The construction site is very active. Please stay well away from the fencing and construction when the crews are working. We want everyone to be safe!
Thank you!

Our hours will remain the same:
T-Thurs, 10-6, Fri 10-4, Sat 10-2,
but are subject to change due to construction activity. Things are fluid!

All programs, including our Summer Reading Program events, will be held outside around the band stand, or virtual.

Construction updates will be posted on our website, in this weekly newsletter, and on our Facebook page.

 If you need any assistance,
help with curbside pick-ups, or the use of a tablet, or what have you,
please call us at 774-3546.
Thank you for your patience, kindness and support as we go with the flow.

Wi-Fi is still available.

The library is unable to accept any donations at this time.
Thank you for understanding.

Wednesdays at 10:30 AM
Rhymes, stories, music and stay and play!

Please meet in front of the band stand on the Town Common. Bring a blanket to sit on, and snacks, if wanted.

1000 Books Before Kindergarten

The concept is simple, the rewards are priceless. Read a book (any book) to your newborn, infant, and/or toddler.
The goal is to read 1,000 books before your little one starts kindergarten- and yes you can repeat books! We know that all kids have favorites! If you read just 1 book a night, you will have read 365 books in a year. By the time they start kindergarten, it's possible to have read 1,825 books together!
Not only will your child benefit from having a larger vocabulary, and more interest in reading, but studies have shown that reading to a child daily is an early indicator of academic success. The bonding time while you read to/with a child is possibly one of the most wonderful benefits!

Our new StoryWalk has been installed.

Dunbarton Public Library receives NH State Library ARPA grant funding in 2022.
We are pleased to announce that our library was one of 42 NH libraries selected to receive ARPA grant funding through a competitive grant round. The library will be awarded $13,745.03 in funding through the Institute for Museum and Library Services' "Grants to States" program. The grant funding is part of the American Rescue Plan Act Plan of 2021 and is being facilitated by the NH State Library.
The library will use the grant award to purchase mobile book shelving platforms that roll away to increase floor space, and to purchase a Meeting Owl Pro. The flexibility that mobile shelving offers will be beneficial in getting back to offering many of our traditional in-person programs. The Meeting Owl Pro will allow any program or meeting to be virtual.
Estimated arrival time of our shelves is now about 2-3 weeks out!
