Steps the City is Taking
As a precautionary step, the City has installed hand sanitizer stations in our facilities for use by both our patrons and employees, and we are conducting enhanced cleaning in facilities and
frequently touched public surfaces (i.e. counters, doorknobs, workstations, keyboards, and public restrooms).
Our
City facilities will observe normal business hours and operation protocols; however; as a way of precautionary measures, the City of Yorba Linda is complying with the updated
CDPH’s guidance
regarding "non-essential" City programs and activities.
Specific City Departments, such as the Parks and Recreation Department and the
Yorba Linda Public Library
, will be posting information at facilities, updating their website, and/or contacting you directly about specific programs and events that will be postponed or cancelled. If you plan to attend a large gathering, please check with the specific organizer to confirm the status of the event.
Length of Limitations
This guidance will remain in place at least through the month of March, as recommend by the CDC. City officials will continue to monitor the CDC's guidance to evaluate the continued public health need for it and to evaluate if any elements need to be changed.
Steps You Can Take
1) Stay up to date with the status of
COVID-19:
2) Practice good health hygiene to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other illnesses:
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol content.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Or in a pinch, sneeze into the crook of your bent arm/elbow.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Stay home when you are sick;
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- If you are experiencing worsening flu-like symptoms, seek medical attention.
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not recommend that people who are healthy wear a face mask in order to try and protect themselves from respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19. Face masks should be used by people who show symptoms of COVID-19 to help prevent the spread of disease to others. The use of face masks is also crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility).

3) Practice Social Distancing:
- Social distancing is a practice recommended by public health officials to stop or slow down the spread of contagious diseases. It requires the creation of physical space (at least six feet) between individuals who may spread certain infectious diseases.
